Auditions Announced for CLUE at Queen City Productions

Auditions for ages 12 & up! We will be having a junior cast contingent upon the number of children auditioning.

Auditions will be held at Thomas More College on November 7th from 2-5 pm and on November 8th from 2-5 pm.

Invited callbacks will be November 8th from 7-9 pm.

Please prepare a one minute monologue and be prepared to do some cold reads from the script.

Rehearsals will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7-9:30 pm

The shows will be January 8th and 9th at 7:30 pm and January 10th at 3pm

Walk-ups are welcome but must wait for the first available time slot. Please bring headshot and theater resume if you have one. The vocal audition will only last approximately 5 minutes. There will be no monologue requirements. Your acting skills will be judged on how you “sell” your song. After your vocal audition you will be taken as part of a group for the dance audition. Total audition time should last approximately 1 hour. Monday (12/7) – 1st group dance audition will be delayed until 8:30pm because of the availability of the dance room.

Audition Requirements: Bring sheet music in the proper key (accompanist will be provided) of one Broadway style song with a minimum of 16-32 bars clearly marked that demonstrates the your best vocal range. Also have a second choice ready in case you are asked. Please bring proper shoes and wear proper attire for a dance audition. Everyone will be doing a dance audition. Dance style – 60’s, modern Broadway, jazz (no tap).

The Story…
Based on the hit film staring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks and an incredible true story, Catch Me If You Can, is the high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught. Nominated for 4 TONY awards, including Best Musical, this delightfully entertaining show was created by a TONY Award-winning “dream team”, with a book by Terrence McNally (The Full Monty, Ragtime) and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray).Catch Me If You Can is a big and bright spectacle with high-energy dance numbers and a riveting story, about Frank Abignale, Jr. who seeks fame and fortune by running away from home to begin an unforgettable adventure. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer – living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. But when Frank’s lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty, Carl pursues Frank across the country to make him pay for his crimes.

Character Breakdown

  • Frank Abagnale, Jr. – The conniving protagonist, he is a handsome and youthful con artist. Grew up learning to disappear into another skin to avoid his problems. He eventually falls in love with Brenda and desperately tries to change his ways. Male, 20-30 yrs old; Range: G2 – C5
  • Carl Hanratty – An FBI agent leading the investigation and search for Frank Jr. A knowledgeable and habitual workaholic who idolizes the moment he catches his perp. Lives a private life of loneliness and depression. Male, 35-55 yrs old – Range: G2 – G4
  • Frank Abagnale, Sr. – Frank Jr.’s father. He is an inspiration when it comes to swindling. Upbeat and fast-talking, he undergoes a series of progressive failures that leaves him a miserable drunk. – Male, 45-65 yrs old. – Range: F2 – G#4
  • Paula Abagnale – Frank Jr.’s gorgeous mother. She met Frank Sr. in France, during the war, but has fallen out of love. Caring and loving, with an underlying resentment toward her husband and son. Will need to learn a French accent. Female, 45-60 yrs old. Range: A3 – C5
  • Brenda Strong – A young nurse and Frank Jr.’s eventual love interest. Hard-working and initially insecure, she meets Frank Jr. after running away from a wedding. Comes to trust him but his true identity clouds her feelings. Female, 20-30 yrs old Range: G3 – A5
  • Carol Strong – Brenda’s traditional mother. She is talkative and boisterous. Female, 45-60 yrs old. Range: Bb3 – A5
  • Roger Strong – Brenda’s conservative father. He is stern and interrogatory, but reveals himself to be deeply romantic. Male, 50-60 yrs old. Range: A2 – A4

The Ohio Stage Company Will Hold Open Auditions for ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

OSC_Tws the Night Before Christmas logoThe Ohio Stage Company will hold auditions for its first show of the 2015‐2016 season, ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Auditions will take place on Sunday and Monday, November 1 and 2, 2015 at Fitton Center for Creative Arts (101 S. Monument Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011). Sunday’s audition time is 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday’s audition time is 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. These open auditions are for anyone interested in participating in the production. The try‐out will consist of a cold reading from the script and several improvisational exercises. There is no need to prepare in advance, audition forms and materials will be provided at the time of the try‐outs.

For community members interested in behind‐the‐scenes participation, Ohio Stage encourages you to volunteer. Stop by one of the audition sessions to complete a crew member form.

Written by award winning playwright Ken Ludwig, the show is the wild holiday adventure of a mouse, an elf, and a spunky young girl who just wonʹt take no for an answer, on their quest to find out why Santa missed their house last year. It is a family friendly show with a cast of zany characters. The show will be presented December 17 – 20.

Director Skip Badonsky is looking for five performers to fill the following roles:

(Ages are suggested by the script and director. The director will cast actors who can believably play the ages suggested.)

  • UNCLE BRIERLY (40s – 60s) A bit of a portly man with a hearty laugh and a charming smile. Brierly is the kind of man who is everyone’s uncle and is just the kind of man you want to be around at Christmas time. The actor playing Brierly will also play Sir Guy of Gisbourne.
  • EMILY (10 – 15) A little girl with a zest for living! Her passion, energy and playful nature shine brightly, making her the perfect addition to a Christmas family. Casting Note: We will consider teenagers and young adults.
  • AMOS (10 – 15) A mouse who is calm, cool and collected…on the surface! Underneath, he is the embodiment of a nervous mouse. The actor playing Amos will also play Amos of Kansas. Casting Note: We will consider teenagers and young adults.
  • CALLIOPE (20s – 30s) An elf with the true embodiment of Christmas magic. She is loving, sweet and nurturing. The actor playing Calliope will play Britannia Sneed.
  • MULCH (20s – 40s) The side‐kick to Sir Guy of Gisbourne. He is clueless and dorky, which leads to a madcap adventure! The actor playing Mulch will aslo play Wendell Sneed and Santa Claus.

DOUBLED CHARACTERS

  • SIR GUY OF GISBOURNE: An ex‐elf who is too wicked for the North Pole to handle. “The fallen Angel”.
  • BRITANNIA SNEED: A whacky friend of Uncle Brierly’s. Married to Wendell Sneed, the ideal candidate will be able to experiment with different dialects.
  • WENDELL SNEED: A whacky friend of Uncle Brierly’s. The ideal candidate will be able to experiment with different dialects.
  • AMOS OF KANSAS: The Western twin of Amos. He is philosophical and very relaxed.

Open Auditions Announced for CALCULUS THE MUSICAL Tour at Know Theatre of Cincinnati

Know Theatre announces Open Auditions for the
2016 Calculus: The Musical Educational Tour

KTC_logoEach year Know Theatre chooses an intrepid duo of performers to help us spread love and advanced mathematics to students with our tour of Matheatre’s CALCULUS THE MUSICAL, and it’s time to hold open auditions for local Cincinnati artists!

Do you act, sing, have intermediate or better guitar and/or piano skills, and have Calculus in your heart? If so, this may be the perfect gig for you!

CALCULUS THE MUSICAL is a comic “review” of the concepts and history of Calculus, blending sketch comedy and classroom lecture with musical parodies that span genres from light opera to hip-hop. The show has become an integral part of Calculus curricula in local and national high schools and we’re excited to send the show back out on the road with a revamped score and libretto.

Roles Available

  • Isaac Newton: (Lead)  Males and Females, 18-35. All Ethnicities.
    Actors must play piano and/or guitar at an intermediate level, as they accompany themselves. An interest in teaching or mathematics is preferred but not required.
  • All Other Roles: (Supporting) Males and Females, 18-35, All Ethnicities.

Schedule and Pay

Contract runs from February 22nd, 2016 to May 7th, 2016.*

The tour pays $300/wk during rehearsals and for in-town performance weeks, $405/wk for out-of-town performance weeks.

Auditions

Please prepare a one-minute, family-friendly comedic monologue and up to 32 bars of a self-accompanied song on piano or guitar. (If both instruments can be played, please be prepared to demonstrate this.) A piano and guitar will be available for use. Please be prepared to move and do math.
