An enchanting, brutal vampire myth and coming-of-age love story adapted from the bestselling novel and award-winning film. Oskar is a bullied, lonely teenage boy living with his mother on a housing estate at the edge of town when a series of sinister killings rock the neighborhood. Eli is the young girl who has just moved in next door. She doesn’t go to school and never leaves the flat by day. Sensing in each other a kindred spirit, the two become devoted friends. What Oskar doesn’t know is that Eli has been a teenager for a very long time. For mature audience, includes sexual situations, violence, blood and gore. This play is not appropriate for children 12 and under. Parents strongly cautioned.

Seeking Paid Vocalists/Actors for Holiday Cabaret at The Ghostlight Stage Company

TGSC_logoThree actors/vocalists are needed for The Ghostlight Stage Company’s upcoming Holiday Cabaret performance on December 22 to sing solos, duets and trios. We encourage performers from all different backgrounds and with all different singing styles to submit materials for consideration. We strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ performers to submit their work, as we seek to uplift the voices of underrepresented artists.

Performance Venue: The Know Underground Stage

Rehearsal Space: First Financial Bank in Covington, KY

Contract: Nonunion

Pay Rate: $320 stipend (no more than 20 hours of in-person work so this stipend equates to $16+/hour)

Production: The Ghostlight Stage Company’s Holiday Cabaret

Director/Cabaret Emcee: Alyssa Batsakis

Music Director: TBD

This is a holiday cabaret that will feature solos and small group numbers. All songs will be either holiday themed, winter themed, or directly pulled from a musical that takes place in the winter/during the holidays. The performance will take place on the underground cabaret stage at The Know.

All auditions will be held via self tape submission.

What to Prepare: Please submit 2 contrasting songs of 1-2 minutes in length each that are either holiday themed, winter themed or come from a musical that’s set during the holiday season. If you are a singer-songwriter and would like to submit an audition using one of your own original songs that fits within the themes of the cabaret, you are highly encouraged to do so. In your video submission please state your name, pronouns, where you are based and if you have housing available in the Cincinnati area, followed by your 2 songs. Songs you submit with your audition should be reflective of you as a performer and may possibly be used in the final cabaret performance.

Deadline for Submission: Videos will be accepted on a rolling basis from now until October 20, 2023 at 5pm EST. All casting decisions will be made by October 27, 2023.

In the form, you will be asked where you are currently based, if you have housing available in the Greater Cincinnati area during the time of production and ALL CONFLICTS you may have between December 16-22, 2023. You will also be asked to upload a copy of your updated headshot and resume. A place to include a link to your video audition will also be on the form. This video audition link can be an unlisted youtube link or a google drive link. Please double check that your video link is viewable by anyone with the link so we do not need to follow up to gain access.

The Ghostlight Stage Company is not able to provide housing or travel compensation to any cast or creative team member at this time. Please do not apply if you will require this.

Production Schedule:
1st Possible Rehearsal: December 16, 2023
Opens/Closes: December 22, 2023

There will be 3-4 rehearsals that run approximately 6pm-9pm EST between December 16-20. A tech/final dress will be from 6pm-10pm on December 21. The performance will be on December 22 and performers will be needed from approximately 6pm-10pm, which includes: call time, performance and a small strike afterwards. Purpose of Position The Theatre & Dance Program is seeking an active, professional artist to join our collaborative, diverse, and vibrant program located in the artistically rich greater Cincinnati area. The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University offers a wide array of degree programs in the visual and performing arts.

The Theatre & Dance Program within the School of the Arts offers a BFA in Theatre Performance (with tracks in Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance Performance, Dance Pedagogy, and Playwriting), a BFA in Theatre Design, Technology, or Stage Management (with tracks in Theatre Design or Technology, and Stage Management), a BA in Theatre Arts, a Dance Minor, and a Theatre Minor. Primary Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include teaching design courses for the program, designing scenery, projections, and/or props for main-stage season productions, providing leadership and mentorship of students in the design area, and recruiting/mentoring majors within the design area of the program.

Possible teaching responsibilities may include scenic design, projection design and control, properties design and construction, scenic painting, drafting, fundamentals of design, and special topics in design.

Additional responsibilities may include painting, projections, and prop shop/lab student oversight.

Other duties will be assigned based on the candidate’s strengths and the needs of the program.

Responsibilities also include the development of a scholarly/creative agenda in research, performance, and/or professional creative activities.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree (MFA) required
2. Record of excellence in Scene Design with strengths in conceptual design, rendering
and/or modeling, drafting, and knowledge/demonstrated skill in scenic painting techniques.
3. Candidate should also have a breadth of professional creative activity.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Evidence of potential for a successful career in teaching.
2. Working knowledge of projection design and control for theatre/ entertainment.
3. Experience cultivating positive and collaborative relationships in the industry and region.
4. Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and goals.
5. Strong organizational and communication skills to support the operation of a growing theatrical design and technology program.
6. Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining students.
7. Candidates who have additional positive attributes/expertise/skills beyond the above qualifications are desirable and should reference these additional attributes in application materials.

Stage Intimacy Workshop with Torie Wiggins at The Ghostlight Stage Company

How does the director make sure to keep the actors comfortable, safe, and respected, while sensitive material is being covered? Torie Wiggins leads The Ghostlight’s Stage Intimacy Workshop to answer all your hard hitting questions and provide insight about the process of Intimacy Coordination.

A 2-hour workshop including:

  • defining what an “Intimacy Director” is and what they do in their role
  • breaking down the “pillars of intimacy”
  • reviewing the best practices for tackling intimate scenes
  • training & presentation from a certified Intimacy Captain

The role of an Intimacy Director is of the utmost importance when it comes to the theater and film professions. They are an advocate for the actors and make sure sensitive material is handled with respect and care. Whether you wish to pursue Intimacy Direction yourself, or just wish to learn more, every theater artist and enthusiast could benefit from this highly relevant workshop.

About the Teaching Artist: Torie Wiggins (she/her) is a multi-hyphenate artist that has been performing professionally for over 20 years. In addition to acting, she is also a director, playwright, instructor, voice-over artist and intimacy director. She now serves as the Artistic Associate for Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati. Torie received her Intimacy Direction training from Theatre Intimacy Education (TIE), Intimacy Coordinators of Color (ICOC), and the former Intimacy Directors International (IDI, now Intimacy Directors and Coordinators, or IDC) and is a certified Intimacy Captain. She has served as Intimacy Director for over 10 plays and musicals at various theaters, including Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Know Theatre Cincinnati and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
