Cast Announced for OUR MOTHER’S BRIEF AFFAIR at Dayton Theatre Guild

DTGDayton Theatre Guild is pleased to announce the cast of OUR MOTHER’S BRIEF AFFAIR by Richard Greenberg

  • Kathy Campbell as Anna
  • Mark Sharp as Seth
  • Kerry Simpson as Abby
  • Isaac Hollister as Abe/Lover

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

Anna is in the hospital having the latest of her frequent deathbed scenes, and this one looks like it may be the real deal. She makes a shocking confession to her grown children about an affair from her past that just might have resonance beyond the family. But how much of what she says is true? While her children try to separate fact from fiction, Anna fights for a legacy she can be proud of. With razor-sharp wit and extraordinary insight, OUR MOTHER’S BRIEF AFFAIR considers the sweeping, surprising impact of indiscretions both large and small.

Sinclair Theatre will present SILENT SKY, February 8-16 in its Black Box Theatre, Building 2, on the downtown Dayton campus.

Much like the movie “Hidden Figures,” this play, by Lauren Gunderson, centers on actual women pioneers of astronomy. Female “computers” were paid very little to do the scientific calculations for their male counterparts in the early 1900s. Despite not being allowed to touch the observatory telescope, title character and real-life astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, is credited with discovering how to measure the universe in 1912.

Directed by Kimberly Borst, the cast of SILENT SKY includes: Sydney Baker as Henrietta Leavitt, Amber Smith as Annie Cannon, Nikki Bentz as Williamina Fleming, Katelyn Pennington as Margaret Leavitt and Christopher Goetz as Peter Shaw.

General admission tickets cost $10 each and are available online now at www.sinclair.edu/tickets.

Performance times are: 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, one Sunday (2/10) matinee at 2 p.m. and a 7 p.m. Valentine’s Day performance. First Saturday, Thursday and Sunday performances are American Sign Language interpreted. Please refer to the website for specific information and to ensure ticket availability as limited seating is available in the Black Box Theatre.

Sinclair’s Black Box Theatre is located on the fourth floor of building 2. Take the elevator to the third floor and follow the signs to the half flight of stairs leading up to the theatre. A chair lift is available for anyone who needs assistance on the stairs leading to the Black Box Theatre. Early arrival is requested as no one can be seated after the production begins.

FREE PARKING is available:

  • In Lot B – Directly across Fourth St. from Building 2. Must enter from Fifth St. at St. Mary’s traffic light. (Open access lot.)
  • At City of Dayton meters along Fourth Street after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
  • In Lot A – Student Parking Garage on Fifth Street. Mon.-Thurs. until 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 6 p.m., CLOSED Sunday.

$10 Parking under Building 12, Lot C – varied hours depending on event – please refer to signage at garage opening.

Please be aware that other campus buildings and overhead walkways are closed and locked when classes are not in session on weekends and holidays. For pedestrian safety always use the marked crosswalks when crossing the street.

FATHER OF THE BRIDE Runs Feb. 15-23

BPI_logoFATHER OF THE BRIDE
Beechmont Players Inc.
Feb. 15-23
Anderson Center

Directed by Jim Waldfogle

Cast: Fred Hunt as Mr. Banks, Jody Hart as Mrs. Banks, Emily Keller as Kay Banks, Tyler Metcalf as Ben Banks, Parker Culp as Tommy Banks, Andrew Shamblin as Buckley Dunstan, Joseph Robinson as Buzz Taylor, Katie Altman as Peggy Swift, Maggie Harris as Delilah, Reva Schell as Miss Bellamy, Chadwin Davis as Mr. Massoula, Catie Harris as Jo, Sandy Schleuter as Mrs. Pulitzki & Joseph Moreland as Red

Mr. Banks learns that one of the young men he has seen occasionally about the house is about to become his son-in-law. Daughter Kay announces the engagement out of nowhere. Mrs. Banks and her sons are happy, but Mr. Banks is in a dither. The groom-to-be, Buckley Dunstan, appears on the scene and Mr. Banks realizes that the engagement is serious. Buckley and Kay don’t want a “big” wedding—just a simple affair with a few friends! We soon learn, however, that the “few” friends idea is out. Then trouble really begins. The guest list grows larger each day, a caterer is called in, florists, furniture movers and dressmakers take over, and the Banks household is soon caught in turmoil—not to mention growing debt. When Kay, in a fit of temper, calls off the wedding, everyone’s patience snaps. But all is set right, and the wedding (despite more last-minute crises) comes off beautifully. In the end, the father of the bride is a happy, proud man, glad that the wedding is over, but knowing too that it was worth all the money and aggravation to start his daughter off so handsomely on the road to married life.
