Auditions Announced for THE LITTLE MERMAID at La Comedia Dinner Theatre

LAC_logoLa Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio is holding auditions for its upcoming production of THE LITTLE MERMAID on Saturday March 7, 2020, at 765 W. Central Ave., Springboro, Ohio.

9:00 AM – CHILDREN

  • Boys & Girls ages 7-17. Will be used throughout show and in production numbers.
  • The role of FLOUNDER is a young boy (10-14) and will be cast from this audition

10:00 AM – ADULTS

  • ARIEL – (18-22) Soprano with strong belt. Beautiful, adventurous, and headstrong
  • URSULA – (25-40) Alto with strong belt. Manipulative, cunning, and devious, yet humorous
  • PRINCE ERIC – (18-24) Lyrical tenor/baritone. Charming prince, strong singer and actor
  • KING TRITON – (30-50) Strong baritone. Ruler of the seas, strong, commanding yet sensitive
  • SCUTTLE – (20-30) Tenor. The funny, off-beat seagull. Good singer with great comedic timing. Must display tap dancing skills.
  • SEBASTIAN – (20-30) Caribbean-style voice/baritone. The anxious crab, strong singer, mover, and actor.
  • FLOTSEM & JETSAM – (20-30) Tenors with strong falsetto range. Ursula’s underhanded, devious eel spies. Strong movers
  • CHEF LOUIS- (30-50) The over the top chef, excellent feature role for a comedic actor.
  • ENSEMBLE – 18-Older, Male and Female strong singers and movers to play various ensemble roles and cover principals

Be prepared to sing 16 bars of a musical theatre song appropriate to the show. Also be prepared to dance.

Rehearsals begin May 18, 2020.

Performances June 4 – July 26, 2020, Thurs-Sun matinees and evenings.

Welcome to another stellar season at the Neighborhood Actors Summerfun Repertory Theatre, a friendly little playhouse where, due to a lack of wing space, the company spends their downtime in the parking lot around an aging hippie/now turned techie’s van.

The members of the company are the egos and obstacles that fall into the lap of Mike, a nice-guy director who ends up with far more than he bargained for. Anyone who’s ever seen a show may know these people. Anyone who’s ever done a show may be these people.

Performances: Apr. 17, 18, 19 and 24, 25, 26

Looking for a cast of six males and four females, aged 18 to 65-plus.

Previous announcement – Now that there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the area, we have made the decision to take our PIRATES OF PENZANCE auditions virtual, at least for this first go.

I will be reaching out individually to anyone signed up through our Sign Up Genius page via email in the next 24 hours with what script clips we would like you to include in your video, in addition to vocal exercises to show range and at least 32 bars of a song selection that demonstrates your ability. There will also be a form you can submit electronically.

Voices of Broadway is excited to announce auditions for their summer 2020 musical, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. Please note: this VOB production is recommended for participants in high school (age 14) and up due to the complexity of the music. Cast will be select – not all that audition will be invited to participate.

Due to generous underwriting of this year’s production, Voices of Indiana is pleased to announce that the participation fee for the 2020 Voices of Broadway production of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE will be reduced from $100 to $35. As always, need based scholarships will be available where appropriate.

Voices of Broadway is an educational program, offering a fully-staged theatrical experience, with instruction for both what goes on onstage and backstage. There is a $35 fee to participate. Cast members will receive a show t-shirt (included in the fee). Limited tuition assistance and scholarships are available. $25 minimum deposit as a script fee upon acceptance of role.

Auditions will be at a location TBA.

  • MARCH 17: 6:30-8 PM Auditions

For your audition, please prepare a song or excerpt from an operetta or musical theater show that best represents your singing voice. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Please note: do not expect to sing a cappella or with pre-recorded music.

Auditionees may be asked to read from the script at auditions.

Please bring known conflicts between March 31 and June 28, 2020.

CINCINNATI, OH – Due to the evolving impact of the coronavirus and the directives from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine regarding the ban on public gatherings until further notice, Cincinnati Arts Association’s annual fundraiser, Dancing for the Stars 2020, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Cincinnati’s Music Hall Ballroom, has cancelled.

Guests who purchased tickets and made donations to the fundraiser have been notified, and their tickets and donations will be refunded.

CINCINNATI, OH – Who will be voted Cincinnati’s best celebrity dancer?  Which stars have the right moves to rule the dance floor?  Find out on Saturday, April 18, 2020 when the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) celebrates season fourteen of its annual fundraiser Dancing for the Stars at the Music Hall Ballroom to benefit CAA’s Overture Awards – the nation’s largest locally-run high school arts scholarship competition – and Arts Education Programs. 

Inspired by the hit ABC-TV show Dancing with the StarsDancing for the Stars will feature nine Cincinnati celebrities paired with some of the area’s finest professional dancers in a competition program, at which the audience will vote for their favorite celebrity dancer. The competitive dance for the evening will be the Foxtrot and each dance pair will have ninety seconds to woo the crowd and the judges.

In addition, Dancing for the Stars will feature:

  • Online silent auction
  • Dance music by guest DJ “Rockin’ Ron” Schumacher, 103.5 WGRR-FM
  • Pre-event reception and wine tasting
  • Open dancing before and after the competition
  • Lite bites provided by some of Cincinnati’s finest restaurants and caterers
  • Cash bar

In addition to the winner of the dance competition, Dancing for the Stars will crown a Fundraising Champion – the celebrity dancer who raises the most revenue toward the event’s fundraising goal through table/ticket sales and donations. Fans may add a donation under their favorite celebrity’s name at the time of ticket purchase, or simply make a donation if they cannot attend the event. These direct donations (outside of the event ticket price) will help one of the fans’ favorite celebrities win the Dancing for the Stars Fundraising Champion award – which will be announced the evening of the event – and are 100% tax deductible.

Tickets are currently on sale at the following levels (a portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible):

  • $150 – Patron (pre-event reception and two drink tickets)
  • $1,500 – Corporate Table (ten Patron level tickets and a half-page program ad)
  • $2,000 – Celebrity Circle Table (premium “first-row” viewing of competition area, ten Patron level tickets, full-page program ad, recognition on event signage)

CINCINNATI ARTS ASSOCIATION’S ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS
CAA’s Education Department promotes life-long learning through its programs, which are diverse, multidisciplinary, and accessible to all ages and cultural groups. SchoolTime presents a series of programs that feature nationally-recognized artists at CAA’s two venues (the Aronoff Center and Music Hall), and Artists On Tour brings the finest local artists in the region to Tri-state schools for interactive arts experiences aligned with the curriculum.

The Overture Awards Scholarship Competition is the largest locally-run arts scholarship competition in the country.  The program annually provides a $4,000 scholarship to six area high school students for education and training, with 18 finalists each winning a $1,000 scholarship. Each year, nearly 400 students are nominated by their schools to compete in one of six artistic disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Visual Art, or Vocal Music. There are three levels of competition: Regional, Semi-Finals, and Final.

The Overture Awards was developed to recognize, encourage, and reward excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. It also provides students an opportunity to share their talents and interests among their peers in a supportive environment outside of their individual schools.  Now in its 24th year, The Overture Awards was launched in 1996 by the Cinergy Foundation and Leadership Cincinnati (a Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce program).

Founded in 1992, the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is a not-for-profit organization that oversees the programming and management of two of the Tri-state’s finest performing arts venues – the Aronoff Center for the Arts and Music Hall – and is dedicated to supporting performing and visual arts. Each year, CAA presents a diverse schedule of events; serves more than 600,000 people in its venues; features the work of talented local, regional, and national artists in the Weston Art Gallery (located in the Aronoff Center); and supports the work of more than one dozen resident companies, including Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Symphony/Pops Orchestras, May Festival, and Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati, presented by TriHealth. Since the inception of its acclaimed arts education programs in 1995, CAA has reached nearly 1.6 million students.

Annual Judges’ and Presidents’ Forum Presented by ACT of Greater Cincinnati

You are invited to attend ACT Cincinnati’s Annual Judges’ and Presidents’ Forum.

This annual forum is used to help educate the ACT Cincinnati Adjudicators and ACT Group Presidents on what adjudicators are looking for when coming to see shows and how they should be responding to such observables in order to meet the needs of the groups. The Long Range Judging Committee Members are excited that three of the four categories being presented are the new award categories for this Season! Each of the presenters brings years of training and experience to this event.

Though this forum is specifically designed for adjudicators and presidents, it is beneficial to anyone interested in theatre and all are invited.
