Mrs. Savage has been left ten million dollars by her late husband and wants to make the best use of it, in spite of her grown-up stepchildren’s efforts to use it for themselves. The stepchildren commit Mrs. Savage to The Cloisters, a sanatorium, hoping to “bring her to her senses.” At The Cloisters Mrs. Savage meets various social misfits, people who need the help Mrs. Savage can provide. Contrasting the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the avarice and vanity of “respectable” public figures, it calls into question conventional definitions of sanity while lampooning celebrity culture.

The Savage Family:

  • Ethel P. Savage (F 60 – 70) Capricious, alert, assured, student of others

  • Titus (M 40 – 50) Senator, well-dressed, humorless, direct

  • Samuel (M 40 – 50) Judge, undistinguished, defers to Titus

  • Lily Belle (F 30 – 40) Vain, spiteful, selfish

The Cloisters Guests:

  • Florence (F 30 – 50) Delusional; young son is deceased; pleaser

  • Hannibal (M 40 – 70) Statistician, thinks he is a classical violinist

  • Fairy May (F 20 – 40) Sweet; dull appearance, Love-starved, fragile

  • Jeffrey (M 30 – 50) Fighter pilot, imaginary facial scar from war

  • Mrs. Paddy (F 40 – 70) Has given up speaking and electricity

The Cloisters Staff:

  • Miss Willie (F 30 – 50) Efficient, caring nurse, hiding a secret

  • Dr. Emmett (M 40 – 70)  Assuring to Savages, protective of his guests

Dayton Playhouse is excited to invite you all to audition for the revival of THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN.

Directed by: Aaron Eechaute-Lopez
Music Direction: Lorri Topping
Choreography: Sandy Hyde

Synopsis:
The Unsinkable Molly Brown is the rags-to-riches love story of Molly and James Joseph “J.J.” Brown, owners of one of the richest mines in the U.S. at the turn of the twentieth century.
In this spirited tale of a legendary American original, we follow the exploits of Margaret “Molly” Tobin Brown, a miner’s wife in Leadville, Colorado who becomes an overnight millionaire with her equally feisty husband J.J. But high society is no match for Molly. As she turns the upper crust of Denver upside down, stands with the miners of Leadville, traverses Europe, and famously survives the Titanic, Molly proves her mettle wherever she goes.

Sinclair Theatre presents Shakespeare’s THE TEMPEST

Dayton, Ohio – February 7 – Sinclair Theatre is proud to present The Tempest, Shakespeare’s magical comedy about revenge and romance, live on stage from March 28-April 5 in Blair Hall Theatre, Building 2, on Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students/seniors and are available online at  www.sinclair.edu/tickets. Groups of 20 or more ordering online save all ticketing fees.

Twelve years before the start of the story, Prospera was usurped by her sister, Antonia, and exiled from Milan. Now living on a remote island with her daughter, Miranda, Prospera is presented with an opportunity to wreak havoc on her traitorous sister and her shipmates by way of a magical tempest.

“Taking on a well-known Shakespearean play is always a challenge as audiences have preconceived ideas of what the story should look or sound like,” says director, Kimberly Borst. “This cast is making each of these famous characters their own and tackling all of the challenges with energy and a wonderful sense of humor.  For many cast members, this is their first time performing in a Shakespearean production and they are doing a wonderful job of embracing the language and making it easily accessible for audience members.  Their enthusiasm and originality is a breath of fresh air and a joy to work with.”

The cast consists of Courtney Collinsworth, Emma Smith, Hannah Ramey, Kelly Boehm, Sierra Ward, Shae Trauthwein, Matthew Poliachik, Amelie De La Nuez, Dominick Griffin, Jorge Melo, Henry Ballard, Joy Wood, Falyn Sherck, and Adalia Gaynier.

Where: Sinclair Community College, Blair Hall Theatre (Building 2), 444 W. Third St., Dayton

Ticket Information:  Adults: $20 Students/Seniors $15 plus $2 service fee. No at-the-door ticket sales. All tickets must be purchased online at: www.sinclair.edu/tickets
