Clifton Players Present GHOST GIRLS Written by Rose Vanden Eynden

CP_Ghost GirlsCincinnati, Ohio – February 28, 2024 – Clifton Players is thrilled to announce the upcoming production of Ghost Girls, a historical fiction play.

In the mid 1800s, two young girls discover their ability to communicate with the dead. Pressed into the public eye by their calculating older sister, Maggie and Kate Fox become the first world-famous mediums, sparking a wildfire of controversy still debated to this day. Were the Fox sisters true channels of spirit communication, or charlatans preying on the grief of others? GHOST GIRLS examines their lives, their motives, and their impact on the spiritual beliefs of generations to follow.

Directed by Tara Williams and featuring a talented cast of eight actors, Ghost Girls is an original script and the first in Clifton Players’ 2024 series of playwrights in residence. Audiences can expect opportunities to attend read throughs, talk-backs with the actors and writer, and themed events as we work toward its world premiere on November 1, 2024.

Clifton Players is excited to bring Ghost Girls to the stage to share this compelling story with our community. Today, there are endless opinions and beliefs surrounding the afterlife. Do the dearly departed have consciousness? If so, do they wish to communicate? This production provides an opportunity for audiences to consider their own beliefs and make their own conclusions concerning the women who were pioneers in after-death communication.

Ghost Girls will run from November 1 to November 10, 2024, at Liberty Exhibition Hall, 3938 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223. A first read through, which will be open to the public, is scheduled for March 12, 2024, at 7pm and a Message Circle event will be held on March 29, 2024 at 7:30pm. Please watch our social media pages for more information about these and all upcoming events.

Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, a Caribbean-set retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid, this theatrical adaptation features music by CCM alumnus Stephen Flaherty (BM Composition, ’82). Unbeknownst to Ti Moune, the pompous gods who preside over the island make a bet with one another over which is stronger, love or death, the stakes being Ti Moune’s life.
