Stories from and about neighborhoods of the Queen City, CINCINNATI! Inspired by a recent documentary created by local documentarian and violinist Preston Bell Charles III, this show is designed to make Cincinnatians interested in other areas of our city with which we may not be as familiar, to encourage exploration and the development of a greater appreciation of where we call “home”.

True Theatre is Cincinnati’s longest-running storytelling event, now in its 14th season. Over the years, we’ve featured hundreds of stories from hundreds of people just like you, making connections and building Community through the sharing of true, personal stories. We are so grateful to our audiences for supporting us and giving us a reason to continue in our mission for so long!

‘America’s Got Talent’ Finalist Performs at the Fairfield Community Arts Center on Feb. 9

FCAC_CatapultMAGIC SHADOWS
Presented by Catapult Shadow Dance Company

FAIRFIELD, OH – Enter the amazing world of Magic Shadows at the Fairfield Community Arts Center (FCAC) Friday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. Presented by Catapult Entertainment, an America’s Got Talent finalist, you won’t believe your eyes as you watch these incredible dancers transform their bodies into seemingly impossible shapes.

Tickets are $36. Call the FCAC Box Office at 513-867-5348 or purchase online at www.fairfieldoh.gov.tickets. This show is funded in part by the Ohio Arts Council.

In one instant they are a mouse and then a full-size elephant, a camel, a car with headlights, a house and not just a house but a house with a window and people inside the window. You will never figure out how they do it and you won’t know what they will make next – you will be surprised again and again.

Audiences are delighted by the apparently effortless transformations and applaud over and over as more and more unbelievable images appear on the stage. Not only is the show packed with hundreds of shape transformations but it is full of humor, emotion, and engaging stories.

Magic Shadows is comprised of eight fully realized stories that are told using only music and shadows. There is no language barrier – adults and children from any place on earth will follow and love these stories. The show also includes one very special shadow dance using cutting edge technology to create Color Shadows! No other shadow company has this technology.

Audiences leave this show dazed and happy and they will never look at their own shadow the same way again!

One-Off Productions Debuts with ROMEO AND JULIET: A FOOL’S PARADISE

OOPs_Romeo and Juliet a Fools Paradise(Cincinnati, OH — January 22, 2023) One-Off Productions, an independent theatre initiative from Rupert Spraul, is set to premiere its inaugural production of Romeo and Juliet: A Fool’s Paradise at Gabriel’s Corner in OTR from February 8-17, 2024. One-Off aims to offer accessible, experimental theatre to the Cincinnati community and calls this production “a clown show–like Dean Martin chugged a beer, hit you upside the head with a salami, fell in love, then died!” Rupert Spraul, as lead producer, takes on direction; Hannah Gregory joins as production manager/co-producer; and Josh Reiter supports as co-producer. The cast boasts local favorites, as well as actors from Chicago, Virgina, and beyond, with CCM graduates Cameron Nalley and Olivia Buss taking on the titular characters, respectively.

Spraul says:

“Our production’s unique exploration of this story and its timeless humanity highlights the uproarious comedy of this story (that is often neglected) which resists giving way to tragedy…Until it does. I don’t think this is a play that needs, or wants, deep academic examination. It’s something that every adult understands: Youth is, or should be, a joyous-inconsequential-fantastical-clowshow, then you grow up and lose things you can’t get back, and the clown show ends.”

Romeo and Juliet: A Fool’s Paradise is a self-produced project; and with fair pay being a cornerstone of One-Off’s mission, crowdfunding is in full-swing to bring this show to life. Eighty percent of the budget is committed to actor payment, with the remaining twenty percent covering venue rental; set, props, and costumes; and technical elements.

The GoFundMe is live at https://gofund.me/52715367.

Romeo and Juliet: A Fool’s Paradise runs at Gabriel’s Corner  (1425 Sycamore, Cincinnati, OH, 45202) on:

  • Thursday, February 8 at 7:30pm
  • Friday, February 9 at 7:30pm
  • Saturday, February 10 at 7:30pm
  • Wednesday, February 14 at 7:30pm
  • Thursday, February 15 at 7:30pm
  • Friday, February 16 at 7:30pm
  • Saturday, February 17 at 7:30pm

Suggested parking includes Ziegler Park Garage, surrounding metered street parking, or free parking on select streets north of Liberty St in OTR.
