COVINGTON, Ky. — Theatre House, the 17,500 square foot theatrical supply shop located at 400 West 3rd Street in Covington, is open once again and under new ownership.

“Theatre House is a special place, and I am thrilled to be able to keep its legacy going,” said Marty Boyer, new president. “The outpouring of emails and phone calls we’ve received from customers who have heard about our reopening has been amazing. People really do feel a strong connection to this company.”

Opened in 1955, Theatre House got its start producing curtains, fabrics, and other services for local theatres. Demand grew, and it quickly became a trusted theatrical supply resource to theaters and industry professionals at all levels, across the country. Today it sells virtually anything and everything someone involved in a theatre production might need – from lighting, fabrics and wigs, to makeup, costumes, props and much more.

A long-time resident of Northern Kentucky, Boyer has spent the last 20 years in the digital marketing and branding space working with national brands.

“The theatrical supply business is one where a huge opportunity exists to turn technology and data science into an operational advantage,” says Boyer. “We can move this business forward in all aspects including purchasing, marketing, and inventory. I’m excited to see the kind of impact we can make as we re-launch the business.”

Since acquiring the Theatre House this past November, he has already overhauled the company’s website – www.theatrehouse.com, developed new branding, and reopened the Theatre House’s retail store. He’s also spent a great amount of time getting to know TheatreHouse customers and meeting with vendors.

“Above all we want to help people share their stories. There are amazing people out there who every day are bringing creative stories to life,” said Boyer. “Prop masters, costume designers, make-up artists, lighting supervisors and more – and we’re here to play a supporting role in helping them, any way we can.”

The Theatre House is located at 400 West 3rd Street, Covington, KY 41011.  Retail store hours are 1:00 to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays.  For more information, or to place an order, call (859) 293-2277 or visit www.theatrehouse.com.

Oxford Area Community Theatre
Feb. 16-25
Oxford Community Arts Center

Directed by Virgil Seger

Cast: Bett Kooris & Arny Stoller

This winner of the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Drama uses a card game as a metaphor for life. Weller Martin is playing solitaire on the porch of a seedy nursing home. Enter Fonsia Dorsey, a prim, self-righteous lady. They discover they both dislike the home and enjoy gin rummy, so they begin to play and to reveal intimate details of their lives. Fonsia wins every time, and their secrets become weapons used against one another. Weller longs for a victory to counter a lifetime of defeats, but it doesn’t happen. He leaves the stage a broken man, and Fonsia realizes her self-righteous rigidity has led to an embittered, lonely, old age.

It’s 1942 and two feuding Hollywood divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel. Everything seems to be in order for their performances at a wartime benefit…that is, until they are somehow booked into the same hotel  suite. Close encounters, mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres and a lap dog named Mr. Boodles round out this hilarious riot of a love note to the classic farces of the 30s and 40s.
