Feisty Broads Workshop SHE’S CRAZY (AND OTHER MENTAL HEALTH MYTHS), Jan. 22-25

CP_Shes Crazy artClifton Players company member, Cathy Springfield, along with  Sherry McCamley, present SHE’S CRAZY (AND OTHER MENTAL HEALTH MYTHS) at the Clifton Performance Theatre. Performances are Thursday-Sunday, January 22-25. 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday and 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are FREE.

This production is made possible through The Cincinnati Arts Ambassador Fellowship which enabled Cathy and Sherry to present this free of charge.  Feisty Broads Productions is Cathy and Sherry’s company who produced A Big Gay Wedding last June.  Feisty Broads is dedicated to presenting work that brings issues to life onstage.

She’s Crazy is a cabaret format that uses original songs and personal stories with the goal of reducing the stigma of Mental Illness.  The subtitle, “Mental Health and Other Myths” speaks to the idea that we all have some sort of mental health issue throughout our lifetime.  One in four people in the U.S. (62 Million people) has a diagnosable mental illness and the other three know someone, either a family member, a co worker, or friend, who has a mental illness; we’re all in it together!  Mental Health is a combination of support and treatment.  Feisty Broads Productions aims to support open discussion and decrease the fear of talking about mental illness.

We hope that all mental health facilities will invite their clients to see this production free of charge.  There will be a talk back after each performance.  Please call for reservations as space is limited.

Mystery Unfolds in ETC’s Regional Premiere THE OTHER PLACE, Jan. 27-Feb. 15, 2015

A MYSTERY UNFOLDS IN ENSEMBLE THEATRE CINCINNATI’S
REGIONAL PREMIERE OF THE OTHER PLACE, JANUARY 27-FEBRUARY 15, 2015

ETC_The Other Place(Cincinnati, OH) The second half of Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati’s (ETC) acclaimed 2014-2015 season kicks off with The Other Place, a riveting and incisive puzzle play by fast-rising playwright Sharr White. As the fragmented memories of her past collide with the fragile moments of her present, one woman’s life seems to unravel around her in this regional premiere. Brace yourself for this award-winning psychological thriller, playing January 27-February 15, 2015. Directed by D. Lynn Meyers.

This production stars Regina Pugh (Next Fall, My Name is Asher Lev) alongside celebrated Cincinnati actors Michael G. Bath (Next Fall, My Name is Asher Lev) and Kelly Mengelkoch (Tribes). Ensemble Theatre also welcomes Billy Chace, Resident Ensemble Member at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, in his ETC debut.

Juliana Smithton, an accomplished scientist and pharmaceuticals pitch-woman, is a dominating personality who’s always in command, but recently her life seems to be becoming unhinged. Her husband has filed for divorce, her daughter has eloped with a much older man, and her own health hangs in jeopardy. However, in this brilliantly troubling and unexpectedly humorous play, nothing is as it seems. Piece by piece, a mystery unfolds as fact blurs with fiction and the elusive truth about Juliana boils to the surface.

“The caliber of Sharr White’s writing, with its poetic and searing nature, caught me in a web of intrigue,” explains Producing Artistic Director D. Lynn Meyers. “He has crafted characters that audiences can relate to and forces you to look at a variety of points of views. While it is very much one woman’s story, there is a universal understanding in the play on the subjects of devotion, respect, marriage, love, and never really knowing what the future holds.”

ANYTHING GOES
Presented by Broadway in Cincinnati
Feb. 17-22
Downtown

When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention get tossed out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love…proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail. Peppering this timeless classic are some of musical theatre’s most memorable standards, including “I Get A Kick Out Of You,” “You’re the Top,” and of course, “Anything Goes.” Don’t miss what the AP exclaims as, “so delightful, so delicious, so de-lovely!”
