Hear from a man who may carry his grandfather’s OOPS!-gene, a young woman with advice on setting your own bone (you’ll never know when you’ll need that!), two jugglers who’ve had their share of ups and downs (and just might have an OOPS-moment before your very eyes on stage!), a young magician who found himself in a situation where he wished he could disappear, and a True Theatre veteran who discovered the fine line between helping someone and almost killing them. Get your tickets now before we sell out and you find yourself saying OOPS! trueTHEATRE shows sell out in advance, so purchase tickets early.

TDW Seeks Directors for 2014-2015 Season

TDW_VERTThe Drama Workshop is scheduling director interviews for the 2014 – 2015 season. We will produce a season consisting of 4-5 shows in the new Glenmore Playhouse beginning in the fall of 2014.

TDW has a list of 15 plays that are under consideration by the TDW board for the 2014 – 2015 season. We encourage potential directors to read any or all of the plays under consideration. To obtain the list of plays contact Gretchen Gantner (contact info below). It is not necessary to read all of the plays to apply for a directorship.

***This year we are asking our director candidates to pitch one additional “wild card” show of your choosing, suitable for attracting a wide audience in our theater space. These can be a holiday show, musical, comedy, drama, children’s show etc, but should be of a big-draw, widely known caliber. ***

We are asking that interested potential directors attend a scheduled interview at The Glenmore Playhouse.

Interviews will be conducted in early/mid November. Should you wish to schedule an interview time, please contact Gretchen Gantner at 513.470.5516 or at GRoose1876@aol.com.

Summerfair Cincinnati Accepting Small Arts Organizations Award Applications

Special awards to assist local small and mid-sized arts organizations in 2014

SFC_logoCINCINNATI, Sept. 30, 2013 – Summerfair Cincinnati has announced the availability of the 2014 Small Arts Organizations Awards Applications.

These awards grant up to $2,500 to assist various local, small and mid-sized arts organizations with the creation of new programs, expansion of current programs and assistance with production or presentation expenses.

“These awards help increase opportunities to all members of the Cincinnati community regardless of age, ability, income or location,” said Sharon Strubbe, executive director of Summerfair Cincinnati. “These awards help many small to mid-sized organizations bring more works of art to fruition in their local communities. Summerfair Cincinnati is about access to art, and this is right at the heart of our mission.”

Criteria for consideration of funding requests include the quality of the art performed or produced, diversity of the target audience, the number of people benefiting from the program or project, the impact of Summerfair Cincinnati’s contribution and the potential for the program or project to attract a new audience.

Summerfair Cincinnati requests that awards be utilized for a project or program that will be completed by the end of the calendar year during which the funding is received. Organizations may receive an award for two consecutive years. However, one award cycle must pass before another application will be considered.

Some recent recipients include Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Landmark Productions, Lloyd Library and Museum, and Pones, Inc.

Applications need to be postmarked no later than Jan. 24, 2014 and the awards will be announced in early March and allocated by March 17, 2014. Applications can be found by visiting http://summerfair.org/year-round-outreach/small-arts-org-award-application.
