Cast and Tech Call for SPACE BETWEEN MY HEAD AND MY BODY

“The Space Between my Head and my Body”
Casting and Tech personnel needed

SEM_logoFresh, new theatre company, Shark Eat Muffin, celebrates their second performance this season with the much anticipated US premier of Catie O’Keefe’s play, The Space Between my Head and my Body directed by Laura Boggs. SPACE will be performed as part of the 2013 Cincinnati Fringe Festival.

Show Description: The Space Between my Head and my Body explores the lives of seven people whose paths collide in flight on an airplane. In the unquantifiable space between departure and arrival, male and female, physical body and identity, we examine what defines each one of them. As the characters weave in and out of different times and spaces, different flights and even different bodies, they remain connected by the same journey. A journey that is forever pushing forward towards the fate of the passengers, their relationship to one another and their own survival in a sea of lost travellers.

The show was produced at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and was published in 2010 by Original Works Publishing.

Characters sought: 4-7 actors* (in a smaller cast, actors will play multiple roles)

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Untethered Theatres APARTMENT 3A with an LCT nomination for featured actor (Christopher Dooley).

No one donates to public television anymore. Bitter and hanging onto her idealism by a thread, Annie Wilson is fighting the good fight while fighting off the advances of her love-struck coworker Elliot. When she moves into a new apartment, her married neighbor Donald becomes a confidant, sharing stories of love, loss and scrambled eggs. This is a story about faith of all kinds. It’s never to late for a second chance, right?

Panelists praised Christopher Dooley’s portrayal of Elliiot as “compelling” and “believable” in some “over the top and marvelous” scenes.

APARTMENT 3A continues through April 27th. Tickets can be purchased at www.untetheredtheaterco.com.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

The League of Cincinnati Theatres was founded in 1999 to strengthen, nurture and promote Cincinnati’s theatre community. Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized The Know Theatre’s COCK with 3 LCT nominations, as well as distinguishing it as a recommended production: Direction (Brian Robertson), Ensemble Acting, and scenic design (Andrew Hungerford).

In this tense comedy about sexual identity, COCK explores one man’s choices about which path of love to pursue. When John takes a break from his longtime boyfriend, the last thing he expects is to fall in love with a woman. Trapped between two lovers, John feels the physical and emotional tug of both, and neither party wants to lose the battle for his heart. John has a choice to make as he navigates his sexuality, selfhood, and the intersection of the two.

Panelists praised Brian Robertson for his “brilliant” direction—“He has no props, no set furnishings to work with…he keeps the characters in constant, purposeful motion.” The ensemble “worked incredibly well together, which was make-or-break for this production”; “a superb cast”. Of Andrew Hungerford’s set design, panelists reported: “The positioning of the uncomfortable platform seating set on each side with the stage in the center with no set pieces was an incredible, well-thought out design… The audience was forced to look at each other with the actors in the foreground throughout the play,” Overall, panelists described the production as “an intimate, emotional play in a unique setting”—“ audiences will find it entertaining and fascinating”.

COCK continues through March 11th. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.knowtheatre.com.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.
