OXCT_Book of LizBOOK OF LIZ
Presented by Oxford Area Community Theatre
Feb. 15-23
Oxford

Directed by Rebecca Howard

Sister Elizabeth Donderstock is Squeamish, has been her whole life. She makes cheese balls (traditional and smokey) that sustain the existence of her entire religious community, Clusterhave. However, she feels unappreciated among her Squeamish brethen, and she decides to try her luck in the outside world. Along the way, she meets a Cockney-speaking Ukranian immigrant couple who find her a job waiting tables at Plymouth Crock, a family restaurant run almost entirely by recovering alcoholics. The alcoholics love her. The customers love her. Her Danderfrock fits right in. Things are going great for Liz, until she’s offered a promotion to manager. Unfortunately, Liz has a sweating problem, and to get the job, she’ll have to fix it. Meanwhile, back at Clusterhaven, Liz’s compatriots just can’t seem to duplicate her cheese ball recipe, and it’s going to cost them their quaint, cloistered lifestyle. They are panic-stricken and desperate, and sure she sabotaged the recipe. Does Liz go through with the operation? Can the Squeamish be saved? Will the cheese balls ever tast good again? The answers to these and so many other questions can be found in the new comedy from The Talent Family, David and Amy Sedaris

BCT Presents STEPPING OUT

The cast of STEPPING OUT rehearse at Beavercreek Community Theatre

The cast of STEPPING OUT rehearse at Beavercreek Community Theatre

When Beavercreek Community Theatre presents STEPPING OUT, the audience can expect to see some bad dancing.

It’s not that there is a flaw in the show or a lack of talent on the part of the cast; it is just part of the script.

Under the direction of John Falkenbach of Dayton, the cast will present STEPPING OUT from January 25 through February 3, with 8 p.m. performances on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.

It is a rollicking comedy about the attempts of some working class amateurs to overcome their inhibitions and two left feet in a low-rent dance studio in North London.

Mavis, a former professional chorus girl, played by Nancy Albert of Bellbrook, tries her hardest to teach the bumbling amateurs some dancing skills for an upcoming recital. But before the dancing begins, Mavis must mediate the minor dramas that erupt among this motley but loveable crew on their way to triumph at their recital.

Her students are portrayed by Crystal Schultz and Stephanie Radford of Beavercreek; Scott Kajihara of West Carrollton; Arizona Craycraft of Springboro; Joy Quarmiley of Kettering and Dayton residents Angela Carigl, Rhiannon Hipshire, Donna Cason and Rachel Mielke.

Tickets are $13 for adults and $11 for students, BCT members and seniors, ages 55 and older. A group discount of $1 per ticket is available to groups of 10 or more when the tickets are purchased at the same time for the same performance.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 429-4737 and leaving a message or by emailing boxoffice@bctheatre.org. For more information, visit the theater’s Web site at www.bctheatre.org, where the tickets can be purchased online with a credit card.

Beavercreek Community Theatre is located within the Lofino Adult Enrichment and Cultural Arts Center at 3868 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek.
