Inspired by a true story, NOTHING is a multi-media play about Ben, a young man with autism who is struggling through the social grind that is high school. He retreats to a world of technology (MP3, video cameras, online gaming) in order to escape the tragic reality of constant bullying. When Ben meets Barbie in a divine online connection, he builds up the courage to venture out of his comfort zone and visit her in the flesh. This overwhelming escapade leads Ben into a dangerous situation, putting his own life at risk.

When faced with present-day struggles, Tony Kingston is pressured to dig back into his childhood to find the root of his hurt and anger. Though painful, his journey is very necessary. With the help of his family and a counselor, Tony must learn to face his past and become personally honest with himself in order to move forward with his life. An inspiring story coupled with great music that is bound to make you laugh, cry and raise out of your seat.

MEET THE DIRECTORS…CURTAIN UP is back for a sixth season. The Cincinnati Enquirer and League of Cincinnati Theatres bring you an intimate conversation with the Theatrical Artistic Directors in Cincinnati. From Playhouse in the Park, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Know Theatre, New Edgecliff Theatre, Cincinnati Children’s Theatre, Cincinnati Landmark Productions, Clifton Players, and more, Jackie Demaline, writer and theatre critic for the Enquirer, will lead a discussion with the directors sure to give you informative insights about the 2012-13 theatre season you won’t find in the playbill!

What have YOU always wanted to know about the backstage and onstage work at our area theatres? Meet the Directors and find out how they select a season; what makes a good actor great? How do they approach the script? What really happens during the rehearsal process? This is your chance to meet the men and women up close and personal and ask something you’ve always wanted to know about creating theatre. A great networking opportunity for students, and theatre pros too!

NEW! Adult Acting Classes at CSC

For Adults, Educators & College Students!
Mondays 7:30-9:30pm
Sep. 10- Oct. 29 (No Class Oct. 15)
Classes take place at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
719 Race St. Cincinnati, OH 45202

A seven-week course for college students and adults interested in learning general acting skills and techniques. The class will include scene study, ensemble and individual work, as well as exercises and methods used by professional actors to approach both contemporary and classical texts. Students will explore improvisation, text analysis, character building and creative ensemble collaboration. An open short performance/skills demonstration will occur during the last class. All experience levels welcome.
