DAMN YANKEES runs July 19-22

DAMN YANKEES
Presented by Mason Community Players
July 19-22
Mason

Middle-aged real estate agent Joe Boyd is a long-suffering fan of the pathetic Washington Senators baseball team. His wife Meg laments this (“Six Months Out Of Every Year”). After Meg has gone to bed, Joe sits up late, grumbling that if the Senators just had a “long ball hitter” they could beat the “damn Yankees”. “I’d sell my soul for a long ball hitter,” he laments. Suddenly, “Mr. Applegate” appears. He looks like a slick salesman, but he is really the Devil, and he offers Joe exactly that deal: if he gives up his soul, Joe will become “Joe Hardy”, the young slugger the Senators need. Joe accepts, even though he must leave his wife Meg (“Goodbye Old Girl”). However, Joe’s business sense makes him insist on an escape clause. The Senators’ last game is on September 25, and if he plays in that final game, he is “in for the duration”. If not, he has until 9 o’clock that night to walk away from the deal and return to his normal life.

Directed and choreographed by Laureen Catlin
Vocal music direction by Lara Turner Gonzalez

The Passing of Bill Winkler

Dear Friends,

I are very sad to report that Bill Winkler has passed away. Bill was a dedicated and hard working member of Footlighters who was always available for any job who needed a volunteer.

He was humble and loved fixing and building sets for all our productions. We will miss his kindness and generosity in helping in the upkeep of our Stained Glass Theatre.

We send our deepest condolences to the Winkler family.

Visitation services will be on Wednesday, June 20th from 5:00-7:00pm with a memorial service at 7:00pm at Dalbert, Woodruff, Isenogle Funeral Home: 2880 Boudinot Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45238. Burial will be at a later time for immediate family only. His obituary can be seen at http://www.funeralplan2.com/dw&isenoglefuneralhome/Obituaries?id=243629

Sincerely,
Freida Houck

There will be a celebration of his life held at the Glenmore Playhouse, home to The Drama Workshop, after the service at the funeral home. Please come and tell you great stories about working with Bill.

Glenmore Playhouse (formerly the Glenmore Bowling Alley) is at the corner of Glenmore and Gamble Ave. one block down from Harrison Ave.
