IMAGINATION MOVERS: Rock-O-Matic Tour 2012 | Thu., April 19, 4 PM & 7 PM | Aronoff Center

IMAGINATION MOVERS’ ROCK-O-MATIC TOUR 2012!
REAL GUITAR, REAL DRUMS, & REAL FUN!
NEW ROCK-O-MATIC CD/DVD JUST RELEASED!

CINCINNATI, OH – Want to add some rock ‘n’ roll excitement and entertainment to your family’s life? Then don’t miss the IMAGINATION MOVERS’ 2012 Rock-O-Matic Tour! Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty – of the Emmy® Award-winning Disney Channel TV series IMAGINATION MOVERS – are bringing their high- octane rock concert to the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall on Thursday, April 19 for two shows only at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. It’s a fun-filled event the whole family can enjoy!

Tickets are on sale now at www.CincinnatiArts.ORG, (513) 621-ARTS [2787], or the Aronoff Center Ticket Office. Group discounts are available by calling (513) 977-4157. Ticket prices start at as low as $18, and exclusive Mini-Movers VIP packages are available, which include premium seating and a chance to meet The Movers.

The Cincinnati stop is part of the first leg of a massive 2012 national tour that begins after brand-new episodes of The Movers’ Emmy® Award-winning show premiere on Disney Jr. during “Movers Week,” April 2-6.

The Movers were the highest-rated and most popular live family act of 2011. The key to the Movers’ appeal is they combine danceable power pop songs with extremely catchy choruses and a knack for inspiring audience participation. Throw in a heaping helping of onstage silliness and you’ve got a recipe for a live musical event that will truly engage the littlest of kids along with their older siblings, parents, and grandparents. It doesn’t hurt that the Movers pepper their live shows with musical references to their many inspirations, including U2, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson, the Beastie Boys, and all sorts of classic and modern rockers.

The 2011 In A Big Warehouse tour garnered critical praise from fans: “The Movers show was in a word: AMAZING! So much fun, high energy, and a memory we will never forget. If you have a little one who loves the Movers, do not miss this show! We can’t wait for them to tour again.”

On the Rock-O-Matic tour, the guys will be playing all their favorite songs from their wildly popular TV series as well as debuting new material from their brand-new “Rock-O-Matic” CD/DVD. The new disc – released on February 28 by Razor + Tie – features the band’s most irresistible songs to date, live-action and animated music videos, skits that recall old-school Movers comedy heroes like Monty Python and the Monkees, and the high-energy hijinks for which The Movers are famous.

The Imagination Movers began in 2003 as a rock band for kids in New Orleans and have grown into the stars of a hit television series seen in over 55 countries on the Disney Channel. On the show, the Movers star as four friends who work together in the Idea Warehouse to solve problems through creativity and teamwork. Their friends Nina and Warehouse Mouse are there to help along the way as the Movers brainstorm ideas and explore the Warehouse’s many magical rooms. Each episode features two or more original Movers songs.

In addition to winning an Emmy® Award, a Common Sense Media Award, and many other honors, the Movers have also performed twice at the White House, as well as on “Good Morning America,” “Live With Regis and Kelly,” and “The View.”

THE TEMPTATIONS and THE FOUR TOPS | Sun., April 15 | Aronoff Center

Iconic Motown Super-groups Together Onstage

CINCINNATI, OH – Two of America’s most iconic Grammy® Award-winning Motown super-groups, The Temptations and The Four Tops, will appear onstage together at the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM. Both of these ever-popular groups have been entertaining generations of fans for more than half a century.

With their stunning harmonies, inimitable style, and classic dance moves, these multi-platinum artists will perform their greatest hits and more. With dozens of Top 10 pop and R&B singles between them, these legendary Motown groups will deliver an unforgettable night of nostalgic hits that’s not to be missed.

Tickets are on sale now at www.CincinnatiArts.ORG, (513) 621-ARTS [2787], or the Aronoff Center Ticket Office. Group discounts are available by calling (513) 977-4157.

The Temptations began their career in Detroit in 1960 and have always featured at least five male vocalists/dancers. Known for their recognizable choreography, distinct harmonies, and flashy onstage suits, The Temptations have sold tens of millions of albums and are one of the most successful groups in music history. Over the course of their career, they have released four Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles and fourteen Billboard R&B #1 singles, 23 Top Ten singles, and 10 Top Ten albums. The Temptations were the first Motown act to earn a Grammy® Award (the group has won a total of four Grammy® Awards). Six Temptations (Dennis Edwards, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Otis Williams, and Paul Williams) were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. Three classic Temptations songs, “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” are among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Other hits include “Get Ready” and “Just My Imagination.” In 2008, Rolling Stone magazine named the group “one of the top 50 bands of all time.” The current Temptations lineup consists of Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Joe Herndon, and Bruce Williamson.

The Four Tops were founded in Detroit in 1953 as The Four Aims by lead singer Levi Stubbs (born Levi Stubbles, a cousin of Jackie Wilson and brother of The Falcons’ Joe Stubbs) and group-mates Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson, and Lawrence Payton. The group remained together for over four decades (from 1953 until 1997) without a single change in the quartet – something that is unmatched by any other group ever. The Four Tops helped define the Motown Sound of the 1960s, and was the main male vocal group for the songwriting and producing team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, who crafted a stream of hit singles, including two Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits: “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” and “Reach Out I’ll Be There.” Other Four Tops hits include “Baby, I Need Your Loving” and “It’s the Same Old Song.” In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked them #79 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and they received the Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 51st Annual Grammy® Awards. The current Four Tops lineup includes Duke Fakir (the only surviving founding member of the original group), Ronnie McNeir, Lawerence Roquel Payton Jr., and Spike Valone.
