Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy society eccentric, believed herself to be a great coloratura soprano when she was actually incapable of producing two consecutive notes in tune. Even so, her recitals in the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton hotel where she resided, along with her single concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, brought her great fame. Souvenir is based on the real life of Florence Foster Jenkins and tells her story through the eyes of her accompanist, Cosme McMoon, a talented musician who first saw her as merely a way to pay the rent, but who came to regard her with friendship and affection.

GOD OF CARNAGE
Presented by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Sept. 3-Oct. 1

BTC review | Enquirer review | CityBeat review |

When two sets of parents meet for a civilized discussion about their sons’ playground fight, the evening quickly deteriorates into a laugh-out-loud train wreck of finger-pointing, name-calling, tantrums and tears. And that’s before they break out the rum! Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, this hysterical tale of parents behaving badly was described by The New York Post as “gleefully nasty fun,” and The New York Times hailed it as “first class!”

GOD OF CARNAGE is suitable for adult and older teenagers. It contains strong adult language and mature themes.
