THE MOORS

Two sisters, their maid, their a dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors, dreaming of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set off a strange and dangerous course of events. THE MOORS is a dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility.

Aspiring video game designer Katja and her longtime friend Trent are an unstoppable team against animated monsters in the virtual underworlds of SpearLight, an online role-playing game. Comic and poignant, NON-CHARACTER PLAYER is a timely, boldly theatrical exploration of gender bias in the digital entertainment industries. And roughly inspired by true events.

Physicality and movement are some of the greatest indicators of emotion and play a key role in storytelling. Through a range of styles including hip hop, contemporary, theatre jazz, and more, experience ten different stories told completely through movement.

After a shipwreck separates Viola from her twin brother, a whirlwind of mistaken identities and unrequited love on the coast of Illyria begins. Disguising herself, Viola sets out to conquer this strange land. When she falls in love with her new employer, Viola gets caught up in a romantic knot that she must untangle. Just when things stretch to the brink of bedlam, her twin appears and the puzzle pieces begin to come together.

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, THE SOUND OF MUSIC follows the inspirational story of an exuberant governess who brings music and joy back to a broken family. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family are forced to make a moral and life-changing decision. The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, THE SOUND OF MUSIC features a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, “The Sound of Music.” Adult situations and content.

Someone hates irrational numbers. Someone told the police. Someone got a message from the traffic light. Someone’s never felt like this before. In this fast-moving kaleidoscope, more than a hundred characters try to make sense of what they know. Adult situations and content.

Children’s Auditions Announced for THE SOUND OF MUSIC at Xavier University Theatre

CHILDREN’S AUDITIONS:

  • Children between the ages of 7-13 may audition for children roles in the show.
  • Prepare an age-appropriate song of your choice and a short (30-60 seconds) monologue if you have one.
  • Please bring three copies of your headshot and resume.
  • Please sign up for one 8-minute time slot on Saturday morning (Aug 26).
  • Children callbacks will take place on Sunday (Aug 27) from 1:00-3:00. Those called back will be notified by email on Saturday evening (Aug 26).

REHEARSALS WILL BEGIN FOR THE SOUND OF MUSIC ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5. Rehearsals usually take place on Tuesday-Friday evenings, along with Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The show runs during Xavier’s Family Weekend from October 19-22.
