High Drama Without the Car Chase

WIT_Honour promo

Patricia Mullins as Claudia, Dennis Blom as Gus, Peggy Allen as Honour & Hannah Rahe as Sophie.

WIT-Women in Theatre, a semi-professional theatre company dedicated to doing plays by, for, and about women, brings you a Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati premier production of HONOUR by Joanna Murray-Smith.

Directed by Donna Hoffman, the cast includes Patricia Mullins as Claudia, Dennis Blom as Gus, Peggy Allen as Honour & Hannah Rahe as Sophie.

HONOUR is a familiar story usually told from a man’s point of view – man leaves wife for a younger woman.  In this story, three women and one man are propelled into asking the question, “What is Love?”  Is love the sweet certainty of knowing what the next day carries?  Or, does love make us feel whole as if without it our blood is too thin and our breath too shallow?

One reviewer wrote, “Not only has the playwright created wonderful parts for actresses, but she deals with difficult areas of family life in brisk, elegant dialogue” that is candid and visceral.  This fly-on-the-wall view of family life makes us think about, talk about, and reflect on the relationships in our lives. HONOUR is absorbing, fast moving, high drama without the car chase.

Performances are on the stage at St. John United Church of Christ, 520 Fairfield Ave, Bellevue, KY 41073 and is part of the Theatre on the Avenue program.  HONOUR performances are April 10, 11, 17, and 18 and 8:00pm.  April 12 is a matinee performance at 3:00pm followed by a “Talk About” led by Grace Epstein, an Associate Professor and Assistant Department Head of the Department of English at U.C.  The play runs about 1.75 hours including a 10 minute intermission.

The cost is $18 with a $3 rebate if you bring your own comfortable, lawn chair.  For more information, phone the Box Office on weekdays between 10:00am and 7:00pm at 513-407-0832.

HONOUR contains adult language and themes.

WALTER CRONKITE IS DEAD Runs April 25-May 3

WIT_Walter Conkite is DeadWALTER CRONKITE IS DEAD
Presented by Women in Theatre & St. John UCC
April 25-May 3
Bellevue

A fierce thunderstorm has shut down airports up and down the East Coast. Two women, who appear to have nothing in common, are stuck in a waiting area at Reagan National Airport. Patty is a chatty southerner—a blue-collar woman from a red state—who is almost physically unable to tolerate silence. Margaret is a Washingtonian, reserved, educated, liberal and not interested in sharing her thoughts, or her table, with Patty. Forced together for a long night in a public place, the two strangers have no choice but to share a bottle of wine and begin to talk…and to listen. Their conversation is funny, difficult, deeply revealing and astonishingly frank. Patty and Margaret share details of their lives that lead them to a place of kinship neither of them could have imagined. Yes, Walter Cronkite is dead, but his wisdom and compassion lives on in this insightful comedy about what might be possible if people from opposite sides of the political aisle would stop shouting and take even one night to listen.
