Auditions Announced for TWO BY TWO at Troy Civic Theatre

TROY_logoDirector Terressa Knoch is seeking 4 men and 4 women for the second show in our 2016-17 season.

The musical, TWO BY TWO, is based on the Clifford Odets play The Flowering Peach and tells the tale of Biblical Noah before, during, and after the Flood.

She is asking auditioners to bring 32 bars of music, and be prepared for cold readings from the script.

Auditions are Monday and Tuesday, August 15th and 16th at 7pm at the Barn in the Park.

TWO BY TWO will be performed November 11-13 and 18-20. Shows are at 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 2pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Auditions Announced for ALMOST, MAINE at Troy Civic Theatre

TROY_logoDirector Derek Dunavent is seeking men and women ages 20s to 50s for the opening show of our 2016-17 season.

ALMOST, MAINE is a light-hearted romantic comedy that takes place in the fictional town of Almost, Maine on a specific midwinter’s night during the Northern Lights.

Auditions are Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd, at 7pm each night at the Barn in the Park across from Hobart Arena.

Auditioners will be asked to perform cold readings from the script.

Performances are September 16-18, and 23-24.

Auditions Announced for YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU at Troy Civic Theatre

TROY_logoDirector Cathie Melvin is looking for 7 women and 12 men, with ages ranging 20s to 70s. Various size parts from large to small. Auditioners will be asked to do readings from the script. Auditions start both nights (March 14 and 15) at 7pm at the Barn in the Park.

YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU (by Moss Hart and George Kaufman) is a light-hearted comedy which takes place in the 1930s in aa home that is filled with loving, but eccentric, happy people who fill their time enjoying life, pursuring strange hobbies and throwing away convention while doing exactly what they like. Originally a success on Broadway, the show was filmed by Frank Capra, and was revived recently on Broadway.

YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU is the final production in our 50th anniversary season – and has the distrinction of being the first show TCT presented 50 years ago! The production takes place May 6-8, 13-14.

An unhappy game of romantic follow-the-leader explodes into murder one weekend at The Hollow, home of Sir Henry and Lucy Angkatell. Dr. Cristow is at the center of the trouble when his mistress Henrietta, ex-mistress Veronica, and wife Gerda,  simultaneously arrive at The Hollow. Also visiting are Edward (who is in love with Henrietta) and Midge (who loves Edward). Veronica ardently desires to marry Cristow and succeeds in reopening their affair but is unable to get him to divorce his wife. Veronica unwisely states that if she cannot have him, no one shall. Within five minutes Cristow is dead. Nearly everyone has a motive and most had the opportunity. Enter Inspector Colquhoun and Sergeant Penny to solve the crime.
