Sinclair Theatre Presents JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT From Feb. 14-22

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph … is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. The magical musical is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, from a parody of French ballads (“Those Canaan Days”), to country-western (“One More Angel in Heaven”) and calypso (“Benjamin Calypso”), along with the unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.”

Directed by Kimberly Borst with music direction by David Brush and choreography by Jessica Eggleston, Sinclair’s production features a cast of 30. David Shockey will play Joseph with Callista Kinney as the narrator. Additional cast includes: CJ Suchyta, Russell Paquay, Patrick Greco, Chase Niemitalo, Kofi Gunter, DeAndre Swann, Nic Mellott, Matt Poliachik, Connor Gray, Mark Kreutzer, Micah Koverman, Kasaahn Johnson, Rafael Santillan, Kylee Pauley, Rachel Charles, Riley Karr, Zoe Miller, Mackenzie Moore, Alexis Paige, Trinity Rice, Lilly Robillard, George Giese, Sasha Greco, Maria Greely, Sadie Hornick, Kaydence Kinney, Carmen Medina, and Rachael Updike.

Tickets are available online at www.sinclair.edu/tickets. Adult tickets cost $18 with student/seniors pricing at $15. All evening performances are at 7 p.m. with a Sunday, Feb. 16th matinee at 2 p.m. ASL interpreted performances are Sunday and Thursday.

LIVE ON STAGE: Sinclair Theatre’s A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS

SCCT_A Charlie Brown Christmas 2019 promoBack by popular demand, Sinclair Theatre will present A Charlie Brown Christmas LIVE ON STAGE in Blair Hall, Dec. 13-16, on the downtown Dayton campus. Listed by local media as a “Can’t-Miss Family Show to Celebrate the Holidays,” this 45-minute production is a perfect introduction for young children to LIVE theatre.

Directed by Gina Kleesattel with music direction by David Brush and choreography by Rodney Veal, this faithful stage adaptation of the 1965 animated TV special based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts characters features Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the gang as they grapple with the real meaning of Christmas. Featuring colorful costumes and scenery, the show is perfect for school, church, scout and other youth groups.

“This has become a tradition for groups and families as we enter our sixth year of performances,” says Gina Neuerer, chair of Sinclair’s Music, Theatre and Dance Dept. “We’re thrilled that people are gathering friends and family to come to Blair Hall to experience this very special holiday event together.”

All seats are reserved at $8 each and the regular house policy of  “no children under 6” has been lifted. However, all patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Please review detailed house policies before ordering tickets.

In partnership with Sinclair’s American Sign Language Dept., Sinclair Theatre will provide *ASL shadow interpreted performances of A Charlie Brown Christmas as indicated. Shadow interpreting is when interpreters follow actors onstage while interpreting, instead of being located to the side of the action. Onstage interpreters include: Annelise Wilimitis as Charlie Brown, Cecelia Shannon as Lucy, Shayla Kohut as Linus and Destinie Warren as all other characters.

SLUT, the Play at Sinclair

Sinclair Theatre has many connections with an exciting new Netflix series (Grand Army) that is based on Slut, the Play, by Katie Cappiello. The play premieres in Sinclair’s Black Box Theatre November 13-16; playwright Katie Cappiello will be on campus November 14 AND Beau Willimon (producer) was a winner at Dayton Playhouse’s Future Fest and was on campus when it was showcased in Blair Hall.

As part of its new FREE EXPRESSIONS series, Sinclair Theatre will offer SLUT, The Play, by Katie Cappiello, FREE of charge, November 13-16 in the Black Box Theatre, fourth floor of building 2, on Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus. Tickets are free, but must be reserved at www.sinclair.edu/tickets. This event is sponsored by Sinclair’s Diversity Office.

Developed in collaboration with The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company, SLUT: The Play is a theatre piece compiled from the real experiences of high school girls 14-17 that explore sexual assault and the culture that allows it to continue. Offering a platform to have dialogue about sexuality empowers women and teaches them how to stop harassment and assault. The rehearsal process and every performance will be supported by campus and community organizations including: YWCA Sexual Assault Team, Sinclair’s Title IX Office and Counseling Services.

Directed by Gina Neuerer, Music, Theatre & Dance chair, the November 14th performances will feature discussions with the author and host area resource experts. Activities include:

  • Noon Matinee with refreshments and socializing with the playwright to follow in room 2334
  • 4:00 p.m. Presentation on “Rape Culture” by Katie Cappiello in Blair Hall Theatre
  • 7:00 p.m. Performance followed by a post-show Q and A with the playwright Katie Cappiello

Panel discussions with community resource representatives will follow the Nov. 15 & 16 performances.
