About Miami Writes:
Miami Writes is a Miami University Hamilton Theatre program dedicated to the fostering and production of new plays by student and local playwrights. The program began in 2004. Past productions have included works by Brandon Berning (Miami Hamilton student playwright whose Miami Writes-developed play, A Painted Life, won second place in the 36th annual Great Lakes Region Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in 2005), Ruth Britt, Danielle Ervin, Roberta Flackwood and Bridget Ossmann. Ms. Ossmann’s work, the musical, Teachers Left Behind received a full production by MUH Theatre in 2010 in Parrish Auditorium. The Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative awarded this play and Ms. Ossmann’s more recent one, Purple Paint (a drama about a Kentucky coal mining family) the honor of readings at The Aronoff Center in Cincinnati. Allyson West’s 2015 Miami Writes submission winner, Texican, is now an award-winning film. Facilitated by Bekka Eaton

Submission and Actors Sought for MIAMI WRITES at Miami University Regionals Theatre

MRT_Miami Writes logoGreetings Theatre Lovelies: For those of you who do not know, MIAMI WRITES is a yearly event hosted by Miami University Regionals Theatre. Playwrights from all over our area are invited to enter a short play or even a full-length play (For full-length plays, playwrights select a 10-minute section.) for consideration for our public reading with feedback. Playwrights are encouraged to use this friendly and supportive setting to hear their new plays read aloud by actors in front of an audience for the first time. Audience feedback will help playwrights edit and complete their plays. This notice is not only for playwrights, but actors as well. If you want to be an actor/reader, please email me at eatonrl@miamioh.edu and I will put you on the list. I will choose a cast according to the needs of most of the plays’ character requirements.

This reminder is really late. Sorry. But I’ve already received play entries and I’m so excited to see what else will come in. I’m extending the deadline doe submissions for an extra week (February 14) because I’m so freaking late with this reminder. Can’t wait to read more plays and work with our wonderful actors.

Thank you. See you soon.
Bekka Eaton
