Call for 2025-2026 Directors at Mariemont Players

MPI_logo 2020The Mariemont Players Inc. Artistic Committee cordially invites you to submit to direct for our 2025-26 season!

Interested directors must submit an application, theatrical resume and scripts for proposed shows by Sunday, July 14, 2024.  The application can be found and completed here: MPI 2025-26 Directing Application

By early August, the MPI Artistic Committee will narrow down the applicant pool to a select number of applicants to be interviewed. Those selected will be contacted to schedule an interview with the Artistic Committee. Interviews will take place in mid-August.

Our goal is to present an exciting, well-rounded season of shows that will bring in and entertain audiences, featuring, but not limited to, comedic, timeless shows with wide-ranged and diverse casts (race, age, gender, etc.). Ultimately, we encourage directors to submit shows they are passionate about and offer the above criteria to keep in mind as you make your selections.

We encourage directors from diverse backgrounds to apply as we actively seek to represent and promote the many insights, opinions and talents of our diverse artistic community.

Each production runs for three weeks, consisting of 13 performances. The rehearsal process is roughly six weeks prior to opening. Our season slots are September, November, January, March, May, and July.

Again, the deadline for applications is Sunday, July 14, 2024. Please reach out to Artistic Chair, Natasha Boeckmann, at MPIArtisticChair@gmail.com with any questions.

Cast Announced for CLYBOURNE PARK at Mariemont Players

MPI_logo 2020Mariemont Players and director Dan Maloney are thrilled to announce the cast of the opening show for our 2024-25 season, CLYBOURNE PARK by Bruce Norris!

  • Fred Murrell as Russ / Dan
  • Alicia Friedman as Bev / Kathy
  • Jamie Sivrais as Karl / Steve
  • Kayla Theis as Betsy / Lindsey
  • Tia Tonae as Francine / Lena
  • Nate Huitger as Jim / Tom
  • Phillip Latham as Albert / Kevin

CLYBOURNE PARK is directed by Dan Maloney and produced by Elizabeth L. Taylor. Performances run September 5 – 22, 2024. Tickets will be available in June at www.mariemontplayers.com.

Synopsis:
CLYBOURNE PARK explodes in two outrageous acts set fifty years apart. Act One takes place in 1959, as white community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification. Are the issues festering beneath the floorboards actually the same, fifty years on? This excruciatingly funny and squirm-inducing satire explores the fault line between race and property. Inspired by Lorraine Hansberry’s play, A RAISIN IN THE SUN.
