Seasonal Shipping Department Help Needed at EdTA

EdTA_logoThe Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is seeking an individual to help fill orders in our shipping department.

TERM
Seasonal, starting April 13 at 15 – 20 hours a week and increasing to 35 – 40 hours a week by late April to early June (with a possible extension into mid-June).

HOURS
Hours are flexible. Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to accurately select and count from more than 400 products
  • Able to pack up to 140 packages a day
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work standing for several hours
  • Reliability and extreme attention to detail are essential.

WAGE
$9.50/hr.

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) seeks a highly-skilled executive level leader to direct the newly formed Education & Content team.

The Educational Theatre Association is a national nonprofit organization based in Cincinnati, OH with approximately 100,000 student and professional members. EdTA’s mission is shaping lives through theatre education by: honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience; supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and influencing public opinion that theatre education is essential and builds life skills. EdTA operates the International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary organization that has inducted more than two million theatre students since its founding in 1929. EdTA also publishes Dramatics, a monthly magazine for high school theatre students, and Teaching Theatre, a quarterly journal for theatre education professionals.

Position
EdTA is seeking a strong and experienced leader to serve in the newly created position of Deputy Executive Director, Education & Content. This is an executive level position reporting directly to the Executive Director. The candidate must possess a demonstrated track record of forming a strong vision and leading multifunctional teams to operationalize the vision. The role demands an effective manager of people who understands how to motivate individuals and teams to achieve goals through collaboration, as well as a thought leader who envisions new initiatives that will expand the benefits of EdTA membership and clarify the value of theatre education.

The individual must demonstrate his/her ability to be a systems thinker—integrating multiple departments to create a dynamic, synchronous operation that will result in increased member engagement, strategic marketing and communications, and national and international brand recognition.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities

  • Leverage and integrate content development to maximize value across all channels—face-to-face events, print publications, website, and online learning.
  • Grow and optimize professional development offerings to meet the evolving needs of members and the theatre education field, including the drive to certification, online education, and adopting standards in education.
  • Drive EdTA’s expertise and professional reputation, enhancing the performance and positioning of the EdTA brand across markets and external public and private constituencies.
  • Provide strategic direction and implementation oversight to brand advancement activities including logo/mark, marketing collateral, and publications.
  • Provide strategic direction to conferences and educational events with the goal of maximizing participation and satisfaction and improving efficiency of operations.
  • Provide leadership and vision to develop and deploy the direction of the digital content in conjunction with EdTA’s Director of Technology and Director of Publications.
  • Drive organizational alignment across independent business lines and improve workflow and collaboration.
  • Ensure mission-focused, cost-effective day-to-day operations through staff supervision, fiscal management, planning and execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years senior management experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in one or more of the functional areas of marketing & communications, program design and implementation, digital and print publications, and event management
  • Work from the Cincinnati, OH national office
  • Track record of digital expertise and success
  • Experience in managing complex organizations
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies
  • Possess business acumen and financial savvy
  • Strong analytical skills utilized to drive continuous quality improvement in operations and workflow management
  • Previous related national association experience is helpful
  • Experience with mission-oriented work and passion for the arts is preferred

EdTA Seeks Marketing and Publications Intern‏

POSITION: EdTA seeks a Marketing and Publications Intern to assist both departments with clerical and research tasks. This is a part-time position with plans for 20 hours a week in 2015.

SKILLS DESIRED: Essential skills include: excellent written and verbal communication, strong solo and team work ethic, fast and accurate data entry/ computer skills, and a warm and upbeat professional demeanor.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Marketing

  • Assist with PR
  • Perform research for strategic initiatives
  • Monitor/research social media for items of interest
  • Execute social media postings on Facebook and Twitter
  • Help design and execute social media calendar
  • Help execute projects such as mailings, assembling promotional materials, update project log
  • Administrative project management tasks–meetings, requests for quotes, etc.

Publications

  • Pitch, research, and write magazine and online content
  • Research content and links for our online College Resource Center
  • Assist in fact-checking, transcription, and other day-to-day tasks
  • Proofreading and proof wrangling
  • Create database of potential arts education partner organizations
  • Organize magazine archives

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated self-starter
  • Social media experience
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Familiarity with InDesign/Photoshop is a plus
  • Knowledge of and experience in theatre is a plus

POSITION:

EdTA seeks a Membership Service Specialist to perform day-to-day customer support, data processing, and clerical duties in an office/service center environment. This is a full-time, entry level position with benefits. This individual will have heavy interaction with members, non-members, and staff.

SUMMARY OF BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Membership Service Specialist answers phones, processes an array of transactions, responds to emails, troubleshoots and solves problems, implements retention/recruitment efforts, and supports fulfillment of member benefits in many ways. Essential skills include: excellent written and verbal communication, strong solo and team work ethic, fast and accurate data entry/computer skills, and a warm and upbeat professional demeanor. Theatre knowledge is a plus.

JOB TITLE: Membership Service Specialist

POSITION REPORTS TO: Membership Manager

EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma. Theatre education is helpful. Basic knowledge of accounting is helpful.

STATUS: Nonexempt; Regular full-time

STARTING WAGE: $11.00

BENEFITS: Include medical, dental, life, retirement (403 B), vacation, casual work environment

JOB DESCRIPTION:

– Answers telephone calls and provides prompt, courteous, complete service to members and non-members of the Association. Provides comparable level of professional service with respect to fax, mail, email, and other communications with the Association. Routes incoming calls to Association staff as needed.

– Enters dues, registration, subscription, merchandise order and other transactions to the association management software.

– Reviews and approves web transactions submitted to the Association website: Schooltheatre.org.

– Facilitates successful member navigation of the Association website and online transactions.

– Maintains Association database and records according to established procedures and standards.

– Fulfills membership benefits (membership cards, certificates, etc.).

– Process claims for lost magazines, resolve subscription problems, make subscription changes, send back issues, etc. as needed.

– May serve as liaison with select Association vendors.

– Provides recruitment information to prospective members.

– Consults with troupe directors and serves as a reference on membership and troupe management issues.

– Makes follow-up contact with prospective members to answer questions and encourage membership.

– Fulfills requests for Association information and supplies from members.

– Assists with monthly billing as needed.

– Assists with mailings as needed.

– May serve as backup to the Inventory and Shipping Coordinator for daily mail procedures including receiving incoming mail, opening, date stamping, sorting, routing, metering, etc.

– Responsible for checking, monitoring, maintaining, and clearing the Association’s automated telephone system.

– May be asked to travel on behalf of the Association.

– Performs other duties as assigned by authorized co-workers.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

– Strong customer service skills and experience

– Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills

– Very strong verbal and written communication skills

– Self-motivated self-starter

– High degree of accuracy is necessary

– Excellent keyboard skills required (60 WPM minimum)

– Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and good judgment

– Positive, team-oriented attitude

– Knowledge of and experience in theatre is a plus

COMPUTER SYSTEMS USED:

Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Adobe Acrobat a plus. Association Management Software or similar experience ideal.

MAKING MAGIC, DEFYING GRAVITY will showcase performances by WICKED’s Cassie Okenka and Rick Desloge and a Question and Answer session led by J. Jason Daunter, Production Stage Manager of WICKED and Matt Conover, Vice President-Creative Entertainment at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. They will recount their journeys of how their high school dreams led to their professional lives.

Tickets are $10 in advance online through Sunday, March 9 or $15 at the door on the day of the show from 5:45-6:45 p.m.
