4000 MILES Runs Jan. 9-25

DTG_4000 Miles4000 MILES
Presented by Dayton Theatre Guild
Jan. 9-25
Dayton

Directed by Kathy Mola

Cast: Jared Mola as Leo Joseph-Connell, Barbara Jorgensen as Vera Joseph, Lindsey Kortyka as Bec & Anna Prince as Amanda

A young man with his bicycle, fresh from cross-country travel, shows up at the Greenwich Village door of his 91-year-old grandmother. They are both lefties in their own way – she with the traditional causes of the past, he with the modern ecological movement. She takes him in. Soon we see the awkward, sometimes funny way they try to connect and help each other. A small gem of warm-hearted drama that could have been written for our space. This show contains adult language and situations.

DTGOpen audition notice for DESIRE UNDER THE ELMS by Eugene O’Neill

Auditions will be held Mon & Tue, Dec 8 & 9, 2014, starting at 7:00 pm both nights.

The Dayton Theatre Guild at the Caryl D. Philip TheatreScape
430 Wayne Ave, Dayton OH, 45410
937-298-5993 — www.daytontheatreguild.org

Directed by Craig Smith
Produced by Debra A. Kent

This American classic by America’s leading playwright is the story of an old, flinty, New England, hardscrabble farmer determined to take a young wife after burying his first two, and the raging conflict that follows with his sons and the young wife. Greek tragedy imposed on an American landscape.

Casting Requirements:

The script is written with a Down East dialect. Auditioning actors must attempt the accent at auditions. For those selected we will develop your skills in rehearsals.

NOTE: There will be two or three table-work rehearsals in December — schedules dependent — to develop characters and accents. Actors will be expected to come to rehearsals beginning January 12, nearly off-book so that the accents can be polished and perfected during rehearsals.

Come to auditions prepared to provide the staff with a list of all known (or anticipated) conflicts – the director does not like surprises!

• Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
• A résumé and headshot are not required but are appreciated.
