Auditions Announced for TICK, TICK…BOOM at Dare to Defy Productions

D2D_logoSun, Dec. 15 beginning at 5pm at 427 Washington Street, Dayton, Ohio.

Call backs will be later the same day at 7:00 (December 17th).

This show will begin rehearsals end of February/beginning of March and perform at the Mathile Theater (in the Schuster Center) on April 13th, 14th (2 shows), 20th and 21st (2 shows).

You MUST be 25 or older to audition for this show. We will NOT accept anyone under the age of 25.

Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the same style as the show.  The director may ask to hear another song (16 bar cut) from your music book.  NO MONOLOGUE NEEDED.

Please, bring a recent head shot and resume along with a completed audition form (which will be emailed a few days before auditions).

All positions are paid non-equity contract positions.

Auditions will take place at 427 C Washington St Dayton, OH 45402 – There is a big yellow sign on the street that says Warehouse Space for Sale or Lease and that is where you will turn. It is the third warehouse building on the right with the river on your left.

Character Breakdown: You must convincingly pass for 30.

  • Jonathan (Lead): Male, Pop-rock bari-tenor. A struggling composer on the brink of his 30th birthday; Strong narrator. A music geek with awkward tendencies; self reflective. Michael’s roommate and Susan’s boyfriend; ability to play piano is a plus but not required
  • Susan (Supporting): Female, Strong belt A flat to D; Jonathan’s girlfriend; uninhibited and dynamic; nurturing, loving and supportive but growing increasingly frustrated with Jonathan’s pre-occupation and lack of commitment. Same actress plays a number of additional character roles requiring terrific comic timing. Movement required for this role
  • Michael (Supporting): Male, Warm bari-tenor, full voice to an F. Jonathan’s best friend from childhood; helpful, kind, funny, successful. Also doubles multiple roles.
