THANKS FOR CALLING (One Act Play)
Two ex-lovers meet via a broken keyboard. This is the catalyst for the love story of Anna and Danny, one a woman struggling to make ends meet, the other a jazz musician hoping for his big break. Will they re-connect, or only learn that some things can’t be fixed?

STILLWATER DEPOT, CENTER STREET, and SGT. SKINNER GOES FOR COFFEE (Three 10-minute plays)

In STILLWATER DEPOT, Lily visits her old hometown to check up on her estranged father. Dad’s doing okay, but Lily needs to work on a few things.

A homeless man on CENTER STREET tries to save Martha’s husband from a heart attack, and introduces him to a different world.

In SGT. SKINNER GOES FOR COFFEE, a hard-boiled cop seems to be trying for a Dirty Harry moment, but the Armed and Dangerous Fugitive won’t resist arrest. Now what?

PLAID TIDINGS Runs Nov. 14-23

PLAID TIDINGS
Lebanon Theatre Company
Nov. 14-23
[Lebanon]

Once upon a time, there were four guys (Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie) who discovered that they shared a love for music and then got together to become their idols – The Four Freshman, The Hi-Lo’s and The Crew Cuts. Rehearsing in the basement of Smudge’s family’s plumbing supply company, they became “Forever Plaid”. On the way to their first big gig, the “Plaids” are broadsided by a school bus and killed instantly. It is at the moment when their careers and lives end that the story of Forever Plaid begins and leads to posthumous performance.

A short time after Francis, Jinx, Smudge and Sparky aren’t sure why they’ve returned to Earth for another posthumous performance. However, a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they’re needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world. Sprinkled among the Christmas offerings are audience favorites, like their riotous three-minute-and-eleven-second version of The Ed Sullivan Show – this time, featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks and The Vienna Boys Choir, as well as a Plaid Caribbean Christmas that puts the “Day-O” in Excelsis!

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
