Feb. 20-March 8
Gabriel’s Corner [Over-the-Rhine]

TRANSORBITAL is historical fiction that follows the exploits of superstar lobotomist Dr. Walter Freeman. With his trusty ice pick in hand and his loyal—though erratic—sidekick, The Kid, riding shotgun, Freeman drives his Lobotomobile coast to coast across post-war America, determined to save the country from its own troubled mind. With messianic fervor, an evangelist’s sense of righteousness, and a jazzman’s gift for improvisation (and showmanship), Doc Freeman is quickly gaining converts, and notoriety. All is going just well, until a number of Freeman’s former protégés start turning up dead. Creepy, grimy, and darkly humorous, Transorbital is an off-kilter twist on the old pulp whodunit.

FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF Runs Feb. 20-22

FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF
INNOVAtheatre
Feb. 20-22
Edward A. Dixon Gallery [Dayton]

A groundbreaking work of American theatre, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf is a “choreopoem” that weaves together poetry, dance, and music into a singular, transformative experience. Through the voices of seven women—each represented by a color of the rainbow—the play explores the complexities of Black womanhood in a world that often ignores their pain and their joy.

From the vibrant streets of Harlem to the quiet corners of the soul, these women share stories of love, abandonment, resilience, and reclamation. They navigate “dark phases as their only reality,” only to emerge with a fierce, collective strength. It is a raw, unflinching, and ultimately celebratory journey that moves from the depths of a “metaphysical dilemma” to the heights of self-discovery: finding God in oneself and loving her fiercely.
