Costume Gallery Liquidation Sale Begins Sept. 5th

Joy Galbraith and our Costume Gallery Newport (CGN) family are excited to introduce what we call our Second Act – a new business focus! This is good news for us and for you!

Going forward, CGN will focus on our quality custom costume and theatrical design work which you know, love, and support.  We will no longer provide retail costume rentals after our Liquidation Sale.

Our liquidation sales are not a closing act, merely an Intermission before our Second Act! We are selling our entire stock of rental and retail costumes in order to clear the stage for our Second Act!  Everything from full production designs to individual one-of-a-kind masterpieces, from historical to vintage productions, and more!

CINCINNATI, OH – That Golden Girls Show! – a puppet parody is a brand-new comedy that parodies classic Golden Girls moments – with puppets! Get set for an evening of cheesecake, laughter, jazzercise, shoulder pads, sex, and the elegant art of the quick-witted put down at the Aronoff Center’s intimate Jarson-Kaplan Theater. The show plays for four performances only:  Saturday, October 19 at 1:30 PM & 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 20 at 1:30 PM & 7:30 PM. Tickets range from $25-$45 and additional service fees may apply.

From Sophia’s get-rich-quick schemes, to Rose’s tales from St. Olaf, Blanche’s insatiable hunt for men and the Fountain of Youth, and Dorothy’s daily struggle to make sense of her life.

Devoted fans will fondly remember these four girls from Miami, and for first-timers, this will be a joyful introduction to the brilliance of the television series.

The cast includes Meggie Doyle as Rose, Erin Ulman as Blanche, Casey Andrews as Dorothy, and Ashely Brooke as Sophia.

NKU SOTA Presents THE SONNET MAN, Hip-Hop Shakespeare Sept. 6

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts welcome “The Sonnet Man” on Sept. 6, 1-2 p.m. at NKU’s Corbett Theatre. The Sonnet Man introduces and makes Shakespeare’s sonnets accessible to audiences in a modern, fun, and innovative way: through hip-hop.

Devon Glover, an artist, teacher, and modern-day Sonnet Man, delivers Shakespeare’s sonnets as originally written, and then breaks them down into “spoken word” and raps to energetic beats. On-stage volunteers then get to attempt at rapping Shakespeare with The Sonnet Man as their guide. Audience members will also engage in other activities including songs with call-n-response prompts, multiple-choice questions, storytelling songs, and more. Participants will come away with a greater enthusiasm for learning, an increase in creativity, improved confidence in their communication abilities and literacy, and a greater appreciation for, and desire to participate in, the arts.

The Sonnet Man offers performances and Shakespeare workshops that both entertain and educate students. Mr. Glover’s flows, and presentation and teaching abilities, embody a richness of Shakespeare’s language, and his passionate, yet natural delivery offers inspiring and creative experiences audiences of all ages love!

Lockhart is a captivating performer, moving audiences large and small with her inspirational songs and charismatic personality. Though musically rooted in gospel and jazz, this classically-trained, versatile, and profoundly talented artist flawlessly sings “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.,” “Chain of Fools,” “Natural Woman,”  “Free Love,” and many more iconic songs.
