Auditions Announced for OTRimprov and ComedySportz Cincinnati

otr_comedysportz-logoOTRimprov and ComedySportz Cincinnati are adding performers! OTRimprov is adding more house teams in January 2018 and ComedySportz is a few months away from celebrating its one year anniversary, giving performers more opportunities to learn and shine.

10:00am, 10:45am, 11:30am, 12:15pm

Please bring a headshot and resume – this does not necessarily need to be a professional headshot, but rather something to help us remember you. We are interested in players of all experience levels and backgrounds. We’re especially interested in adding women and people of color to our cast.

Troupe Schedule and Expectations 

  • OTRimprov 
    Rehearsals: Tuesdays 7:30-10pm.*
    Performances: Saturdays 7:00pm-9:30pm
    and the Final Friday 9:45pm – 12:15am

    Players must be available for casting 2-3 times a month (there is some flexibility at the director’s discretion if other work commitments come up). Performance casting decisions will be made by individual team coaches based on factors including rehearsal attendance.

    *Some rehearsals may be held other nights, depending on cast availability.

  • ComedySportz
    Rehearsals: Thursdays 7:00pm-10:00pm and Sundays 3:00pm-6:00pm. Performances: ComedySportz shows are once a week, typically Fridays 6:30pm-10:00pm (alternate times are Thursday or Saturday 6:30pm-10:00pm or Sunday from 12:30pm-4:00pm).

    Players must be available for casting in at least 3 shows a month. There are attendance and performance requirements to be cast into a ComedySportz Match.

  • Wanna make sweet music with us?
    We are also looking for musicians interested in accompanying OTRimprov and ComedySportz performances. Auditions for musicians will be held separately. You will need your own instrument to audition. If you interested in auditioning only as an accompanist, please email hello@otrimprov.com.

Auditions Announced for THE GAME’S AFOOT at Sunset Players

SSP_logoSunset Players announces auditions for its winter and spring shows: THE GAME’S AFOOT by Ken Ludwig and directed by John Wesseling.

Auditions are: Tuesday, November 7 and Wednesday, November 8, 7:00 pm at The Art Center at Dunham at 1945 Dunham Way, Cincinnati, OH 45238.

Set in December 1936, THE GAME’S AFOOT centers on Broadway star William Gillette, admired for his Sherlock Holmes portrayal, who host a weekend part for his cast members at his Connecticut castle. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It’s up to Gillette who assumes the role of Holmes, to track down the killer. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

Performance dates are February 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, March 1, 2 and 3, 2018. All shows are at 8PM, except Thursday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.

The cast consists of the following five female and three male roles:

  • William Gillette: Male, plays 40s
  • Martha Gillette: Female, plays mid 70s
  • Felix Geisel: Male, plays 30sto 40s
  • Madge Geisel: Female, plays 30s to 40s
  • Simon Bright: Male, plays 25
  • Aggie Wheeler: Female, plays 25
  • Inspector Goring: Female, plays 40s to 50s
  • Daria Chase: Female, plays 30s to 40s

Auditions will involve cold readings from the script.

Sunset Players, Inc. is a community theater group located on the west side of Cincinnati. Founded in 1979, the group performs at the Arts Center at Dunham and has produced more than 120 plays. Auditions Announced for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Rotary Presents

People auditioning for “Rotary Presents Beauty and the Beast” are asked to choose an audition time. Adults and children should prepare one song (1-3 minutes) in a musical theatre style. Singing a song from the show is acceptable but not required. An accompanist and CD player will be available.

Times

  • Audition slots begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 and 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, 101 S. Monument Ave., Hamilton.

Choreography
All auditioners must stay until the end to learn some choreography.

Other
Please bring a complete list of conflict dates from January through mid-March. No conflicts will be acceptable during tech week. We will have several rehearsals planned for the week of Dec. 11-15 to get started, and then we will break until the first week of January 2018.

Rehearsals will be three nights per week in January, February and March. Days of the week are still TBA.

Cincinnati Opera Announces Auditions for 2018 Season Young Artists

co_logoCINCINNATI—Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2018 Young Artist positions will be held at the Corbett Opera Center in Music Hall, 1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio on November 30, December 1, 2, and 3, 2017.

Young Artist positions are specifically for young, up-and-coming singers who wish to gain professional experience and exposure in the opera industry. Young Artists will be engaged as Choristers in Cincinnati Opera’s 2018 Summer Festival productions. In addition to their chorus duties, Young Artists often perform at various donor and patron events and programs during the season, and may also be engaged to cover principal roles in rehearsals or perform comprimario roles in mainstage productions. Young Artists have the opportunity to work with distinguished professionals in the field, as well as experienced staff members, to build and enhance repertoire through private coachings. Rehearsals and performances for the 2018 Summer Festival will begin mid-May (exact start dates TBD) and run through the end of July.

Audition Process
Auditions are by invitation through an application process. Not all applicants will receive an audition. Applicants who receive an audition are also eligible for positions in the 2018 Summer Festival Chorus. Please email auditions@cincinnatiopera.org with any questions.

  1. Completed applications must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  1. Auditions will be held at the Corbett Opera Center in Music Hall (1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202). Singers should prepare five (5) arias in the original languages. An accompanist will be provided.

Please Note: Positions in the Cincinnati Opera Summer Festival Chorus, principal cover, and comprimario roles in season productions are under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists.

2018 Season
Cincinnati Opera’s 2018 Summer Festival, which will run from June 14 to July 31, begins with a magnificent production of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata in Music Hall’s Springer Auditorium, followed by the company’s first-ever production of a work by the first major opera composer, Claudio Monteverdi, with The Coronation of Poppea at the Corbett Theater at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. The season continues with Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, on the Music Hall stage for the first time in over 20 years. The season closes with two groundbreaking new works in repertory. First, Cincinnati Opera presents the United States premiere of Another Brick in the Wall, based on the legendary Pink Floyd album The Wall, brought to full operatic realization in a stunning multimedia production that earned standing ovations at every performance of its sold-out world premiere run at Canada’s Opéra de Montréal. Finally, the chamber opera As One, the coming-of-age story of a transgender woman, will be presented in the intimate new Wilks Studio at Music Hall.

Cincinnati Opera Announces Chorus Auditions for 2018 Summer Festival

co_logoCINCINNATI—Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2018 Summer Festival Chorus will be held at the Corbett Opera Center in Music Hall, 1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio on November 30, December 1, 2, and 3, 2017.

The Cincinnati Opera Chorus is a paid, professional chorus under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists. Residents from outside of the greater Cincinnati area are welcome and encouraged to audition. However, applicants should be aware that most chorus members tend to be cast locally. Rehearsals and performances for the 2018 Summer Festival will begin in mid-May (exact start dates TBD) and run through the end of July.

Audition Process

Audition requests are now received exclusively through an online application process. Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Please email auditions@cincinnatiopera.org with any questions.
