Without William Shakespeare, we wouldn’t have literary masterpieces like Romeo and Juliet. But without Henry Condell and John Heminges, we would have lost half of Shakespeare’s plays forever! After the death of their friend and mentor, the two actors are determined to compile the First Folio and preserve the words that shaped their lives. Amidst the noise and color of Elizabethan London, The Book of Will finds an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter, and sheds new light on a man you may think you know.

For the First Time in 25 years, Cincinnati Ballet Performs George Balanchine’s JEWELS

CB_JewelsFOUR Performances only! November 3–5 at Music Hall

Cincinnati, OH (October 9, 2023) – Cincinnati Ballet presents choreographer George Balanchine’s Jewels at Music Hall, November 3 – 5, 2023. Jewels features three glittering gems – Rubies, Emeralds, and Diamonds – come to life as dancers on stage. The romantic Emeralds is followed by the jazzy Rubies, culminating in the glorious Diamonds. This is the first time in more than 25 years Cincinnati Ballet has performed all three acts together and is a special production to celebrate the Company’s 60th Diamond Anniversary Season. Jewels has been called the first, full-length abstract ballet, and since its premiere in 1967, has remained one of Balanchine’s most loved works. Balanchine was inspired by the artistry of jewelry designer Claude Arpels of famed jewelry store, Van Cleef & Arpels. The ballet is presented in three acts, each distinctive in mood with music performed by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Emeralds, the first section, evokes the 19th century dances of the French Romantics and features the music of Fauré. Rubies is contemporary, witty, and fiery presenting great contrast to the first act and is a tribute to the collaboration of Balanchine and Stravinsky. Diamonds recalls the grandeur of Imperial Russia where Balanchine grew up and trained. The act is the most majestic of the three and is purely classical, utilizing music from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3. Tickets start at just $29 and can be purchased at cballet.org or by calling Cincinnati Ballet’s Box Office at 513-621-5282.
