In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father’s funeral, the Turpins’ other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion.

This groundbreaking Obie-winning Off-Broadway smash also won multiple awards for its hit film adaptation. It tells the story of “internationally ignored song stylist” Hedwig Schmidt, a fourth-wall smashing East German rock ‘n’ roll goddess who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with just “an angry inch.”

Calling All Second Graders for CincyDance! Open Auditions December 17

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Cincinnati, OH, December 9, 2022) – All second graders in the Tri-State are invited to audition for our FREE CincyDance! Program, which connects children to the joy and discipline of dance! The audition will be held December 17 beginning at 2:30 pm at the Cincinnati Ballet Margaret and Michael Valentine Center in Walnut Hills. (All details below) Following the audition, select dancers will be chosen to join CincyDance’s Ballet Foundations class, a 15-week program that will teach children ballet fundamentals in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Students also have the opportunity to win a lifetime scholarship to the Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy. Classes will take place Wednesdays after-school OR Saturday afternoon starting January 2023. Invited students will be provided shoes and all dance attire. Classes focus on ballet, as well as other dance styles including street, modern, and musical theater.

CincyDance! is a fully scholarshipped program designed to remove barriers and encourage racial, gender and economic diversity within the Otto M. Budig Academy. After the Ballet Foundations experience, five to six students will be given the opportunity to receive full, lifetime tuition scholarships to Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy. The Academy’s pre-professional training program provides students with a world-class dance education as well as performance opportunities with the Academy and Cincinnati Ballet’s professional company. Students may go on to pursue dance as a career pathway or as a personal passion. The December 11th audition is the beginning to a student’s exciting journey with Cincinnati Ballet and high-quality dance training.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Any second in the Tri-State area
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable clothes you can dance in. Dancers will audition in bare feet.
HOW TO PREPARE: Show up and bring your best self! No previous dance training or audition
materials are required.
HOW TO REGISTER: Register here or by call us at 513-562-1111. Due to the limited capacity, we
encourage all participants to pre-register online or by phone. Limited registration will be available
on day of audition.
SAFETY: Masks are currently optional at the Ballet Center. Cincinnati Ballet follows all health and
safety protocols recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Class space is limited.

Auditions Announced for THE DINNER DETECTIVE Cincinnati

This is a paid opportunity that puts you in front of large crowds during interactive shows. Looking for actors, comedians and outgoing personalities.

Where: Auditions will be held at The Embassy Suites RiverCenter, 10 E RiverCenter Blvd, Covington, KY 41011

When:

  • Auditions will be held on Saturday, Dec 17th at 2pm EST
  • If you cannot make the audition time, but think you would be right for the role, please submit your headshot and resume anyway for consideration at a later date

How to Submit:

  • Please send an email to njaymes@thedinnerdetective.com with the subject line “CINCINNATI AUDITIONS”
  • You are encouraged to include a headshot and acting resume in this email, but it is not required if you do not have one
  • You will receive an email back confirming your audition

What to Expect in the Audition:

  • Please be prepared to improvise a few 2-person scenes, and showcase any relevant talents
  • Auditions may last up to an hour depending on size of group

Additional Details about The Dinner Detective:

  • The Dinner Detective is a hilarious, live action, interactive Murder Mystery Show that takes place most Saturdays at The Embassy Suites Rivercenter in Covington
  • The show is set in modern day with no costumes required.
  • Paid position, tips in addition to base pay.
  • No campy dialogue. This is a mostly scripted show, but we rely heavily on improv. We are looking for modern funny.
  • Time commitment for regular shows is 4-6 hours including a pre-show rehearsal.
  • No weekly rehearsals required, you rehearse only before the show you are scheduled to work.
  • Public shows are year-round, usually on 2 Saturday nights a month, ending by 9:30pm.
  • Actors are NOT required to work every Saturday.
  • Actors submit their own availability, collected each month.
  • Show schedules come out one month in advance.
  • Actors will be treated as professionals, and professional behavior is expected

Choreographer Sought for THE WIZARD OF OZ Young Performers Edition at Guardian Angels School

GAF_SchoolGuardian Angels School is in need of a choreographer for THE WIZARD OF OZ Young Performers Edition.

Performance dates are March 23 & 24, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Guardian Angels School on Beechmont Avenue. Most rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-4:30, beginning January 10.

Cast is approximately 70 kids grades Kdg-8th grade. Core cast is about 24 (these kids are 5th-8th grades and meet both Tuesdays and Thursdays).  The ensemble is about 46 (these kids are Kdg-4th grade & only meet on Tuesdays.)

The production package provides a choreography video which features basic ideas for “The Cyclone”, “Munchkinland”, “We’re Off to See the Wizard”, and “Jitterbug”.  These are the tunes which we would like choreographed and taught to our students.

Anyone working with children in the Archdiocese must complete SafeParish training.
