May 5-8
Sorg Opera House [Middletown]

Directed by Aaron Washington

Cast: Christopher Howie as Narrator, Benjamin Jones as Baker, Audree Terry & Sophie Caton as Baker’s Wife, Abriella Ruby & Ella Sands as Cinderella, Lily Meyers as Jack, Jillian Edwards as Jack’s Mother, Addison Haines & Mia Zink as Little Red Riding Hood, Brooke Partin & Max Fox as Witch, Brielle Storer & Franny Bell as Rapunzel/Cinderella’s Mother, Gavin Poronsky as Repunzel’s Prince, Davis Byrd as Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf, Greta Moore as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Savannah Basinger as Florinda, Kaia Woo as Lucinda, Aaron Callahan as Mysterious Man, Blake Meyerhofer as Cinderella’s Father, Aiden Thompson as Steward & Catherine Shannon as Granny/Giant

“Be careful what you wish for” seems to be the ongoing theme in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Brothers Grimm inspired musical, Into the Woods. The story follows The Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to go the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood witch, who reveals to them that she placed a curse on their family, the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. Also in the woods, we meet Little Red, who is trying to visit her grandmother, the Wolf who loves tasty little girls, the Witch’s daughter Rapunzel, and the Princes chasing after their loves. Everyone gets their wish and seemingly lives happily ever after. Until Jack’s beanstalk brings them a visit from an angry Giant and we see how the consequences of their actions haunt them in disastrous ways. The community must come together to save each other and their kingdom, but sacrifices must be made.

Family Series: SNOW WHITE is Accessible for Visually and Hearing-Impaired Children

CB_Snow White promo 2022Accessibility is a top priority for upcoming production at the Aronoff, April 7-10

Cincinnati, OH (April 5, 2022) – Cincinnati Ballet is pleased to share every performance of our Family Series: Snow White will be ASL (American Sign Language) interpreted. The Saturday, April 9 performance at 11 am will also be audio-described for patrons who are visually impaired. “Every child and dance lover should have the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful artform,” said Scott Altman, Cincinnati Ballet President and CEO. “Cincinnati Ballet is committed to providing a quality entertainment experience for our deaf, hard of hearing and vision impaired guests.”

Cincinnati Ballet’s Family Series: Snow White returns to the Aronoff Center, April 7-10. The Family Series is an hour-long, narrated ballet performed by the Second Company – CB2 and Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy students, staged by Second Company – CB2 Director Suzette Boyer Webb. We are so pleased to welcome families back to the Aronoff for an interactive dance performance created with children in mind. Snow White is the third installment of our Family Series, a regional premiere co-commissioned by Cincinnati Ballet and Ballet West. Snow White features magic elements – the poisoned apple and talking mirror – that audiences know from the classic story. Young dancers from the Otto M. Budig Academy perform the roles of Snow White’s trusted friends – the Seven Dwarfs and woodland animals – who guide her on her journey to find true love. The production, choreographed by Pamela Robinson Harris, is also narrated by actors playing the Brothers Grimm, making the story easy for even the youngest members of your family to understand and enjoy. The production runs a little over an hour and includes free, fun, fairy-tale themed lobby games and activities before performances.

Tickets start at $20 and are on sale now. For more information visit cballet.org.

Audiences are no longer required to wear face coverings or show proof of vaccination for Cincinnati Ballet performances at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. All Cincinnati Ballet dancers and Academy students are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and will perform without face coverings. Please refer to cballet.org for the very latest Covid-19 health and safety guidelines.
