VERY DUMB KIDS Runs April 20-22

CCM_Children of Eden logo

VERY DUMB KIDS
UC College-Conservatory of Music Studio Acting
April 20-22
Cohen Family Studio Theater [University Heights]

Directed by Brant Russell

Join us for the staged world premiere of VERY DUMB KIDS! Written by rising New York star Gracie Gardner, this play was workshopped by CCM Acting last spring. Sarah Nehal was murdered while working as a correspondent in New Delhi while her college friends were at home in the U.S. watching TV on the internet and peddling their esoteric skill sets. One year after her funeral, Sarah’s friends meet for their annual Fourth of July reunion. VERY DUMB KIDS explores entitlement and how its effects are visited upon the disenfranchised as well as the privileged. But it’s also about empowerment and exploring how to live responsibly in an irresponsible universe. This production is presented as part of CCM Acting’s new play-commissioning initiative.

Admission is free, but reservations are required. Tickets become available at noon on Monday, April 17. Visit the CCM Box Office or call 513-556-4183 to reserve. Limit two tickets per order.

  • Thu-Fri, April 20-21 at 8pm

XU_Into the Woods logoINTO THE WOODS

April 20-22
Gallagher Student Center [Evanston]

Directed by Lynn Meyers
Music directed by Scot Buzza
Produced by Stephen Skiles

Cast: Justin Lee as Narrator, Alex Roberts as Cinderella, Aaron Krick as Jack, Jenny Roberts as Jack’s Mother, Mac Blais as The Baker, Rachael Petranek as The Baker’s Wife, Cassie Delicath as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Cat Sholtis as Florinda, Annie Mayer as Lucinda, Nora Weisz as Little Red, Hannah Sheppard as The Witch, Gigi Relic as Cinderella’s Mother, Andrew Leonard as Mysterious Man, Matthew Wilkinson as Wolf/ Cinderella’s Prince, Julia Kempf as Rapunzel, Joshua Carandang as Rapunzel’s Prince, Michael Rowlett as The Steward, Sara Ringenbach & Donald Burns as Milky White, Sam Martini as Cinderella’s Father, Taylor Maas as Granny, Gigi Relic & Kellie Ann Hogan as Female Swings & Matthew Wilkinson & Christian Hall as Male Swings

Be careful what you wish for … What if Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and the Baker and his Wife lived in the same story? All must venture into the woods to seek fulfillment of their deepest wish, but what they find there is that dreams are rarely simple and wishes are not often granted free of complications. This charming story is at once hilariously funny and deeply moving, a fractured look at the flip side of the classic fairy tales as only master storyteller Stephen Sondheim (composer of Sweeney Todd and Company) could imagine.
