Imagine if Benny Hill took a break from running around to “Yakety Sax” to direct an ancient Greek comedy. How absurd — how amazing — would that be? Probably as mind-blowing as BIRDS, Burt McCollom’s hilariously inspired adaptation of Aristophanes’ play The Birds.
Combining the pop culture savvy of Shrek and the manic energy of Hee Haw, this deliciously over-the-top comedy follows two humans (think Abbott and Costello) who flee the world of lawyers, politicians and taxes in search of a simpler life. They concoct a crazy plan to build a city in the clouds, a realm ruled by the Birds, which forces both man below and gods above to do their bidding.
Be there as the Tri-County Players perform this brilliant and energetic re-imagining of one of the theater’s most enduring comedies.
Performance will be at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center 11165 Reading Rd Cincinnati, Oh 45241 on October 9, 10, 17 and 18 at 8:00 PM and Sunday October 11 at 3:00 PM.
