Mega-NUNSENSE starring the original five nuns features five new (male and female) characters including the never-before-seen infamous convent cook, Sister Julia, Child of God. In addition there is a chorus of men, women and children.
- Sister Mary Regina (Mother Superior) (mezzo) A fiesty overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can’t resist the spotlight.
- Sister Mary Hubert (mezzo) The second in command – always competing with the Mother Superior.
- Sister Robert Anne (mezzo) A streetwise tough character from Brooklyn – a constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.
- Sister Mary Amnesia (soprano) A sweet, but spacy nun who has lost her memory and does not know who she is.
- Sister Mary Leo (mezzo) A novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun balleria.
- Sister Julia, Child of God – Convent cook
- Brother/Sister Brendan – Novice
- Brother/Sister Luke – Novice
- Brother/Sister Wilhelm – Convent nurse
- Father Virgil – Sr. Leo’s Brother
- Chorus – Nuns, Brother and Students (ages 6 and up)
The parts of Brendan, Luke, Wilhelm and Virgil can be “Sisters” or “Brothers.” Sister Julia, normally played by a woman, can be played by a man impersonating Julia Child.
