Miracle Worker auditions: March 1-2, 2015
Auditions for THE MIRACLE WORKER will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 1 and 7 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Creative Center at the Palace, 215 S. Third St., Hamilton. Auditioners will read from a script.
THE MIRACLE WORKER is the story of Annie Sullivan and Helen Keller and depicts the events of their first meeting and leading up to Helen Keller learning language for the first time.
The cast includes the following:
- Annie Sullivan – Stage age 20 years old. Annie is a strong willed, determined young lady.
- Helen Keller – Stage age 7-11. Helen is blind and deaf and fiercely independent of will. She is a spoiled child through most of the play.
- Kate Keller – Kate is Helen’s mother. She should be stage age of about 25-35. She has a timid disposition.
- Captain Arthur Keller – The Captain is Helen’s father. He should be stage age 40-50. He is stern and stubborn but has a soft spot for Helen.
- James Keller – James is the Captain’s son and Helen’s half brother. He can be stage age 18 – 30. He yearns for attention from his father and he carries an air of entitlement.
- Anagnos – Annie Sullivan’s doctor – stage age from 30 – 80.
- Viney – The Keller’s maid/servant. Preferably a woman of color. Age is insignificant.
- Aunt Ev – Captain Keller’s sister. She should be stage age 40 – 50. She is an aristocratic woman, easily annoyed by Helen.
- Martha/Percy – Children to the Keller’s servants. Preferably children of color between 5 – 10 years old.
- Blind Girls – 4- 5 girls ranging in ages from 5 – 17.
- Jimmie Sullivan – Annie’s little brother. Stage age 5 – 11 years old.
**Special Note**
There will be a special matinee performance of Miracle Worker for local school children on Friday, May 1, 2015. More than 300 tickets have already been sold for this special event. As a result, those auditioning will want to be sure they will be able to miss school or work during the day on May 1 for the performance.
