NORTHSIDE – New Edgecliff Theater’s production of the radio drama “Sweet Suspense: Strangers on a Train” will be postponed. Jim Stump, Producing Artistic Director, says the general contractor for their new permanent space has indicated that there are critical integration issues to be finalized and the process of commissioning the highly sophisticated systems, including heating and air conditioning, will require additional time.

“After hearing of this delay, we considered the option of opening before the venue was fully functional, but decided that our new home at St. Patrick Church would best serve the community if we were to open in a quality environment,” Stump says. “We are aware that this has caused inconveniences for many and we apologize,”

The general contractor accepted responsibility for the delay.

The theater construction at the St. Patrick Church at 1662 Blue Rock Road in Northside was expected in time for the annual radio theatre fundraiser for New Edgecliff Theatre. This event is to be rescheduled. More information will be announced once a performance venue has been found.

“The 12 Dates of Christmas”, directed by Jim Stump, scheduled for December – will either be canceled or rescheduled. NET’s work with the Actors and Playwrights Collaborative on “Soldier’s Christmas”, slated for December 12 through 21 at Northern Kentucky University, will continue as scheduled.

Grayscale Cincinnati has been working since the summer of 2012 to create a multi-use performing arts facility and craft brewery and this summer began redeveloping the former St. Patrick’s Church in Northside into a new music venue, creative live theater, bar/lobby and craft brewery. One of the key elements of this project is the historic rehabilitation of a former center of community life, returning its architecture to a new, vibrant cultural center for the community.

“It’s a typical construction delay. It’s not entirely controllable,” Stump said.

Updates on the opening of the new theatre space will be announced on The New Edgecliff Theater website: newedgecliff.com or on the theatre company’s Facebook page.
