This Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Diana Goodman, mother and wife, struggles with bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. Meanwhile, her husband and daughter try to cope—one attempts to forget while the other confronts. This contemporary story is an emotional powerhouse addressing such issues as grieving, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life. With provocative lyrics and a thrilling score, Next to Normal shows how far two parents will go to keep their family’s world intact.

Cain has grown up hearing stories of a long lost Eden and the punishment of death. As he turns ever more towards despair, his soul becomes the battle ground between his ever pious brother and Lucifer himself. While his wife fights to show him the beauties of life, Cain knows he must make a stand against Death. The beautiful poetry of Lord Byron and these larger than life characters are brought to life by three actresses and a family dinner. Cain’s struggle is sure to resonate with every person who has ever wondered where they fit in the universe.
