Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s “The North Pool” with a 4 Star Rating.

In “The North Pool,” Khadim, a Middle Eastern-born transfer student, has no idea why he’s been called into the office of his high school’s vice principal in the final hours before the start of spring break. But an investigation of a minor school infraction soon leads to questions of a decidedly more dangerous nature. As secret after secret is exposed, the suspenseful revelations in this riveting psychological drama threaten to change both men forever.

Panelists said called The North Pool “a beautifully acted and directed script that was fascinating, engaging, funny, and ultimately, very moving…It keeps you thinking and listening, wondering what layer of the onion will be peeled away next.” Director Timothy Douglas’s was praised for his “well paced, modulated and excellently blocked” direction.

Both lead actors in the play were also highly commended for their work: “Ted Deasy’s portrayal of Dr. Danielson was excellent–pitch-perfect as the self-important mid-level administrator. And Eli Gelb’s Khadim was mesmerizing. He was the perfect image of the disaffected high school senior, and he ratcheted up the intensity beautifully as he revealed hidden depths first with humor, and then with raw emotion.”

“The North Pool” continues through June 1st. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.cincyplay.com/

Nominations for LCT awards will be determined and announced at the end of the season and winners awarded at the annual LCT gala in the spring.
