Presented as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival ’13

Coffee Emporium
Over-the-Rhine

Barry Sanders, the mostly forgettable roller coaster tycoon you met back in high school, is celebrating his 30th birthday, and you’re invited. Get ready to revisit all of those people you were hoping you’d never have to see again, participate in a series of joyless party games and interact with a cast of sociopaths who showed face tonight for their own selfish reasons. This is one shitty party, and it wouldn’t be the same without you. This immersive, interactive piece from the twisted minds of Endless Chili Productions will have you wishing you never RSVPed, “Yes.”

CFF13: THE WAVE

Based on a true story, THE WAVE by Ron Jones, is a narrative about a young 1960’s California history teacher who wanted to deter his students from the allure of totalitarianism. His daring social experiment succeeded beyond his wildest expectations, creating a fascist state on campus. Replete with salutes and Gestapo-like informants, 30 students grew to 200 as this exercise in fascism spiraled out of control. The “experiment” illustrates how individual freedoms can be quickly abandoned and willfully repressed for collective goals and racism as happened in the rise of Nazi Germany and the treatment of the Jews during World War II.

THE SPACE BETWEEN MY HEAD AND MY BODY explores the lives of seven people whose paths collide in flight on an airplane. In the unquantifiable space between departure and arrival, male and female, physical body and identity, we examine what defines each one of them. As the characters weave in and out of different times and space, different flights and even different bodies, they remain connected by the same journey. A journey that is forever pushing forward towards the fate of the passengers, their relationship to one another and their own survival in a sea of lost travellers.

Reviews: Behind the Curtain | CityBeat | Enquirer |

THE ELEPHANT IN MY CLOSET is writer and comedian David Lee Nelson’s madcap dash through the history of the Republican Party and his own political past, as he works up the nerve to tell his staunchly conservative father his worst nightmare has come true: his only son is a Democrat.
