The Carnegie has an immediate opening for a Sales Associate. Requiring 14 – 18 hours per week, including many nights and weekends, the Sales Associate is responsible for day-to-day and at-the-door box office sales under the management of the Box Office Manager. The Sales Associate is also responsible for cultivating and generating group sales for Carnegie productions, implementing targeted marketing efforts, generating playbill advertisement revenue, creating reports, and other duties as necessary under the management of the Managing Director of Theatre. The position pays $12 per hour. Flexible schedule, strong people skills and an interest in the performing arts are “musts.”

Reporting Relationships
Position Reports To: Box Office Manager, Managing Director of Theatre
Position Purpose
Responsible for the sale of tickets for events scheduled at the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, as well as the generation of group sales and program advertisement opportunities and other activities pursuant to sales. The Sales Associate will report to the Box Office Manager and Managing Director of Theatre and work cooperatively with The Carnegie’s staff and its clients.
The Sales and Marketing Associate is a part-time position requiring 14-18 hours per week, including many evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Facilitates box office transactions through ticket processing, data entry, and customer service.
- Processes walk-up, phone and online ticket orders in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Creates reports and other documentation for events and as needed.
- Provides positive customer service experiences by addressing patron ticketing issues and providing information about The Carnegie and its scheduled events.
- Arrives promptly and as scheduled for all events and daily duties.
- Generates ticket sales revenue opportunities through targeted and departmentally coordinated marketing efforts.
- Carries out targeted marketing efforts including (but not limited to) phone solicitation, email solicitation, postering and direct mail preparation under the direction of the Managing Director of Theatre.
- Cultivates relationships and sales with group sales contacts, maintaining records of communication and sales history.
- Generates earned revenue through program advertisement sales.
- Solicits sales of advertisements in programs for Carnegie in Concert and Theatre Series performances and as needed.
- Develops and maintains program advertisement rate card for distribution to sales targets.
- Creates and cultivates relationships with program advertisement contacts, maintaining records of communication and sales history.
- Coordinates program advertisement sales with OnStage and/or other advertising sale agencies working of The Carnegie’s behalf.
- Manages Carnegie accounts with ASCAP and BMI.
- Collects and maintains programs and / or set lists from all Carnegie performances.
- Provides accurate and timely reports to ASCAP and BMI, including program and / or set list information. Maintains copies and records of reports.
- Efficiently and accurately maintain accounts with ASCAP and BMI to minimize expenses.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication, coordination and collaboration with Carnegie personnel, contractors and directors.
- Provides accurate and complete performance information to staff.
- Attends and participates in meetings and functions as needed.
- Displays a positive attitude and willingness to contribute outside of job description, as needed.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well-maintained.
- Dresses appropriately for events and meetings.
- Contributes towards other Carnegie tasks as needed.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: College degree either completed or in progress
Required Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of computer software, especially Excel and Word
- Ticketing experience and knowledge a plus, but not required
- Genuine interest in the performing arts
