New Edgecliff presents THE CANTERVILLE GHOST
Original Oscar Wilde story adapted by resident playwright O’Keefe
One Night Only! Saturday, October 20, 2012
New Edgecliff Theatre’s annual Sweet Suspense Radio Drama returns with a family-friendly radio style adaptation of the Oscar Wilde classic, adapted for the stage by NET’s Playwright-in-Residence, Catie O’Keefe. This one-night-only event includes the re-creation of an early 30’s-era radio studio, complete with live sound effects. This year, we bring our annual event to the Cincinnati Art Museum for a truly unforgettable night!
Where others have run screaming in terror, the Otis family seems quite comfortable in their new haunted house. After moving to England and into Canterville Chase, this family of Americans finds nothing frightening about the famous Canterville ghost, whose attempts to replenish an old blood stain are seen only as annoying, while efforts to scare the family usually end with the ghost himself hiding in fear. It’s not until the young daughter, Virginia, takes an interest in helping the murderous spirit, that the family and the ghost find peace and quiet. Directed by Bob Allen.
During an extended intermission, the audience will also enjoy a dessert buffet, sampling delectable desserts from area restaurants & bakeries, making this suspenseful evening truly “sweet!”
Sat, Oct 20, 7:30pm, Cincinnati Art Museum, 953 Eden Park Dr. Event parking is free. Special pricing for this one-night-only event: $35/adults $20/ages 13 and under. To reserve, call 513.399.6638, or go to www.newedgecliff.com.
