Some of the highlights of the season include:
- A swashbuckling adventure and a seafaring expedition — journeys for the entire family in The Three Musketeers and Shipwrecked!
- The world premieres of Abigail/1702 and Leveling Up by two exciting up-and-coming voices, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Deborah Zoe Laufer.
- Two classics from American masters Neil Simon and Horton Foote: Brighton Beach Memoirs and The Trip to Bountiful.
- The music of legendary country artist Hank Williams in Hank Williams: Lost Highway.
- The regional premiere of Dayton native Daniel Beaty’s Through the Night after a triumphant off-Broadway debut.
New for the 2012-2013 season are price reductions for all upper-level seats in the Marx Theatre; the number of seats at the very lowest prices have been tripled as well. This means better seats at a great price all the time, with individual tickets starting at just $30.
Patrons can subscribe to all five Marx Theatre productions for as little as $27 per show or build their own series of four or more shows from either theatre for just $30.50 per ticket.
A discounted price for children, teens and full-time students has been extended to all productions in any section. The price is $25 for all regular season shows and $30 for A Christmas Carol. Student Build Your Own subscriptions are $22 per ticket per show. A new student rush program offers $15 tickets for best available seats 30 minutes prior to curtain.
Discounted tickets for preview performances are just $30 for B, C and D sections in the Marx and Side B section in the Shelterhouse.
Patrons who buy before Sept. 1 will receive $15 off full-price tickets to select performances of holiday favorite A Christmas Carol, presented by U.S. Bank, and to the swashbuckling adventure The Three Musketeers. The offer is valid for performances of The Three Musketeers from Sept. 6 to 20 and for A Christmas Carol performances from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 and Dec. 9 to 13. Valid for A, B and C section seating. Some restrictions apply.
A special on-sale event will be held on Monday, Aug. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. at Fountain Square. New Artistic Director Blake Robison will talk about the upcoming 2012-2013 season. Entertainment will include a sword fighting demonstration by actors from The Three Musketeers and songs from Hank Williams: Lost Highway sung by Mark Utley of Magnolia Mountain. Local favorite actor Bruce Cromer, Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol, will be signing free production posters. Von Eric Huhn as Tiny Tim will make a special appearance.
