STRANGE DREAMZ presented by Kevin J. Thornton as part of the 2012 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. You can read the show description here.

Kevin J. Thornton is back for his third appearance at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Again this year he opened to a sold out performance, and judging from the reaction of his incredibly diverse audience, he didn’t disappoint.

Consisting of mostly new material (with a few favorites from previous shows), Thornton shares stories and songs exploring themes of love, sex and the meaning of life according to Kevin. Over the past couple years, Thornton has been hitting the Fringe circuit pretty hard, and that experience is evident in his confidence and ease on stage.

Overall a fun, infectious good time. Definitely worth your time. Another personal favorite of this year’s festival.

BARE and STOP KISS run June 14-23

BARE and STOP KISS
Presented by Playhouse South
June 14-23
Kettering

Reviews: Dayton Most Metro (BARE) |

BARE: The musical is about the coming-of-age story of five high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school. Knowing their stay in this insular world is drawing to a close, each of them question where they are in their lives and what the future holds in store. Answers are sought in the church confessional and in less formal venues including a stage, a rave, and a well-locked dorm room. The story zooms in on the love relationship between two boys, Peter and Jason. Peter a socially awkward loner and Jason the golden boy popular jock. Through out the story we see the struggles, trials and tribulations that they go through to keep their relationship alive and hidden, and how their love affects their friends and the people around them. Will the world accept them? This is a beautiful story of going against adults, religion and everything that they were ever told. -StageAgent

Directed by Jamal Cann

STOP KISS: Sara and Callie are walking through New York City’s West Village, when they share their first kiss. This leads to a vicious attack by an angry bystander, in which Sara is horribly injured. She falls into a coma, which becomes one of the major subjects of the play. George, Callie’s good friend, tries to help with the situation, but there is little he can do. Peter, Sara’s ex-boyfriend from St. Louis, comes to help nurse her back to health. Throughout STOP KISS, relationships are explored, formed, and even ended. Diana Son elaborates on the depths of human emotion and compassion in this play. -Wikipedia

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED)
Presented by Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
June 8-30
Downtown

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) features three actors on a mission: to bring the entirety of Shakespeare’s canon to the stage in a single evening of theatre. Audiences will follow along as they careen wildly through all the comedies, histories and tragedies using a trunkful of props, wigs, and ridiculous costumes. Full of clever quips as well as silly slapstick, the script’s affectionate and irreverent treatment of Shakespeare’s plays has made it one of the most popular shows in America and England.
