SOAW_Murder Ballad logoMURDER BALLAD
Presented by Stone on a Walk Theatre
June 19-27
Over-the-Rhine

Directed by John Leo Muething
Orchestrations and vocal arrangements by Justn Levine

Cast: Luka Ashley Carter as Tom, Montez Uma as Michael, Lauren Carr as Sara & Katrina Reynolds as the Narrator

A love triangle gone wrong, this rock musical straight from New York centers on Sara, an Upper West Sider who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her. From the minute the Narrator presents a bat and proclaims that one of the lovers will die, we are propelled toward the inevitable doom in this all too familiar story of sex, compromises, betrayal, and deceit. Get immersed in the dive bar scene as you enter King’s Club, listen to the rock and blues play, and sense the passion of a story of “true love gone awry.”

LYSISTRATA
By Aristophanes

Directed by Katie Lupica

The women of Greece give their husbands an ultimatum: stop fighting or no sex again. Almost 2500 years later, this show’s blend of political satire and dirty comedy still stand up today. In the same breath, Aristophanes is able to discuss erections, elections, fake pregnancies, and feminism. You won’t look at war the same after Lysistrata shows you how hard the last few inches to peace can be.

A HUNDRED MINUS ONE DAY
By Idgie Beau

Directed by John Leo Muething

Jen is dealing with an incurable illness, giving up her independence to move back in with her father, and the existential crisis of being a twenty-something. Now if only her childhood imaginary friend, Daphne, would giver her a moments rest. Inspired by the writer’s own refusal to grow up and accept adult responsibilities, A Hundred Minus One Day invites us back to our youthful innocence and reminds us of the importance of friendship, family, and living in the moment.

Casting Requirements:

There are a total of 7 female and 6 male parts with ages ranging from 18-50. Visit the website to see a more specific breakdown of each character.

Thespis was the first show written by Gilbert & Sullivan, the writing duo famous for Pirates of Penzance and H.M.S. Pinafore, but the final script and score were lost in a tragic fire. Now using the surviving pieces of the script (and a healthy dash of artistic license), Thespis and his rag-tag group of actors live to make blunders on a cosmic scale again to the delight of audiences of all ages
