Springboro Community Theatre is excited to announce 2024-2025 Season
First, we are happy to return to North Park Amphitheatre for our “under the stars” production of TREASURE ISLAND!
TREASURE ISLAND
Book and Lyrics by Jim Eiler
Music by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy
Auditions: June 10-12, 2024
Performance Dates: August 2-4 and 9-11, 2024
Robert Louis Stevenson’s thrilling tale of pirates, treasure maps, mutiny on the high seas and pieces of eight follows Jim Hawkins, an ordinary youth drawn into a dangerous race for buried treasure against the treacherous Long John Silver. As the Robert Louis Stevenson himself wrote, “If this don’t fetch the kids, why, they have gone rotten since my day.”
STAGE KISS
By Sarah Ruhl
Auditions: July 29-31, 2024
Performances: September 13-15 and 20-22, 2024
Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage. Stage Kiss captures Sarah Ruhl’s singular voice; it is a charming tale about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss—or when actors share a real one.
LEGALLY BLONDE: The Musical
Book by Heather Hach
Music and Lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe & Neil Benjamin
Audition Dates: September 16-18, 2024
Performance Dates: November 15-17 and 22-24, 2024
Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.
For our first youth theatre production of the 2024-2025 season, Springboro Community Theatre is proud to present “Failure: A Love Story” by Phillip Dawkins!
FAILURE: A Love Story
by Phillip Dawkins
Audition Dates: November 18-20, 2024
Performance Dates: January 3-5 and 10-12, 2025
By the end of 1928, all three Fail sisters will be dead — expiring in reverse order, youngest to oldest, from blunt object to the head, disappearance, and finally consumption. Tuneful songs, and a whimsical chorus follow the story of Nelly, Jenny June, and Gerty as they live out their lives above the family clock repair shop near the Chicago River, before their time unexpectedly runs out. A magical, musical fable where, in the end, the power of love is far greater than any individual’s successes or failures.
ASSASSINS
Book by John Weidman, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Audition Dates: January 6-8, 2025
Performance Dates: February 28-March 2 and March 7-9, 2025
ASSASSINS lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical “revusical” that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.
Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express
By Agatha Christie & Ken Ludwig
Audition Dates: March 3-5, 2025
Performance Dates: April 25-27 and May 2-4, 2025
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again.
