caa_onefunnymotherlogo

CINCINNATI, OH – One Funny Mother Dena Blizzard, the viral video star and off-Broadway comedy sensation, will bring her hit one-woman show to Cincinnati’s Music Hall Ballroom on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 7:30 PM. Dena’s hilariously relatable collection of stories will make you realize you’re not crazy, but motherhood sure is! The show is part of Cincinnati Arts Association’s 2018-19 Presenting Season.

Tickets go on sale Friday, February 8 at 10:00 AM at www.CincinnatiArts.org, (513) 621-ARTS [2787], and the Aronoff Center and Music Hall Ticket Offices. Due to adult themes, language, and alcohol use, One Funny Mother is suitable for mature audiences ages 18 and over.

One Funny Mother stars comedian, former Miss New Jersey, and married mother of three, Dena Blizzard, in her hilarious solo comedy show about the trials and tribulations of motherhood and marriage. An outrageous and side-splitting 80 minutes of sass follows Dena on her hilarious journey through a typical day as a mom as she prepares for her big “Girls Night Out.” Along the way, she laments how her life and marriage have changed since becoming a mother of three, wrestling with the eternal question, “Have I gone crazy since having these kids?” The answer is a hysterical, “laugh ’til your face hurts” comedy that you won’t want to miss!

Dena Blizzard first gained notoriety as the “Target mom” from her “Back to School Rant” (96 million views) and “Chardonnay Go” (24 million views) viral videos. She is a comedian and mother of three who has starred Off-Broadway in her one-woman show One Funny Mother, created “Chardonnay Go, The Board Game for Wine Lovers, Moms and Other Shameless People” and “Shiraz on the Shelf, a New Christmas Wine Tradition,” and can be found drinking in her living room on her weekly Facebook LIVE show, “Tipsy Tuesday.”  A LIVE with Kelly Top 5 Co-Host Winner, she has served as the official host of the Miss America Pageant Preliminaries for ten years, has co-hosted with Anderson Cooper, was a warm-up comic for four years, and had her own talk show on NJ 101.5 FM. She can be found on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram @OneFunnyMother and online at OneFunnyMother.com.

Before hitting the road for a national tour, One Funny Mother was named “Best One Woman Show” at the 2015 United Solo Festival in New York City.

One Funny Mother is a great “Girls Night Out” or date night for anyone that IS a mom, HAS a mom, or is MARRIED to a mom.

CINCINNATI ARTS ASSOCIATION’S ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS

CAA’s Education Department promotes life-long learning through its programs, which are diverse, multidisciplinary, and accessible to all ages and cultural groups. SchoolTime presents a series of programs that feature nationally-recognized artists at CAA’s two venues (the Aronoff Center and Music Hall), and Artists On Tour brings the finest local artists in the region to Tri-state schools for interactive arts experiences aligned with the curriculum.

The Overture Awards Scholarship Competition is the largest locally-run arts scholarship competition in the country.  The program annually provides a $4,000 scholarship to six area high school students for education and training, with 18 finalists each winning a $1,000 scholarship. Each year, nearly 500 students are nominated by their schools to compete in one of six artistic disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Visual Art, or Vocal Music. There are three levels of competition: Regional, Semi-Finals, and Final.

The Overture Awards was developed to recognize, encourage, and reward excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. It also provides students an opportunity to share their talents and interests among their peers in a supportive environment outside of their individual schools.  Now in its 22nd year, The Overture Awards was launched in 1996 by the Cinergy Foundation and Leadership Cincinnati (a Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce program).

Founded in 1992, the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is a not-for-profit organization that oversees the programming and management of two of the Tri-state’s finest performing arts venues – the Aronoff Center for the Arts and Music Hall – and is dedicated to supporting performing and visual arts. Each year, CAA presents a diverse schedule of events; serves more than 600,000 people in its venues; features the work of talented local, regional, and national artists in the Weston Art Gallery (located in the Aronoff Center); and supports the work of more than one dozen resident companies, including Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Symphony/Pops Orchestras, May Festival, and Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati, presented by TriHealth. Since the inception of its acclaimed arts education programs in 1995, CAA has reached nearly 1.6 million students.

PRAISE FOR WARM

WARM jettisons the cryptic mystery that marked Wilco’s best work and gets down to what matters in the most direct terms: family and creativity, life and death, sadness and hope, all rendered with weary empathy.”  — Wall Street Journal

“A moral guidebook from a songwriter who sings with such compassion that even his simplest advice (‘Don’t forget to brush your teeth’) can make your eyes well up.” — Pitchfork

“[WARM is] proof that Jeff Tweedy’s non-Wilco detours have become more than mere side projects to fill gaps between albums but rather, precious, intimate portraits of a songwriter who’s willing to openly display more of his scars than ever before.” — Rolling Stone

PRAISE FOR LET’S GO (SO WE CAN GET BACK)

Let’s Go is especially enlightening, a rock ‘n’ roll book that quietly dismantles what we expect from rock ‘n’ roll books.” — Pitchfork

“One of the best and most revealing memoirs in years.” — The Ringer

Let’s Go shows how Tweedy’s prolific and musically varied career is the result of a restless creative streak that helped him find meaning and a place in the world.” — The Washington Post

CINCINNATI, OH – Jeff Tweedy has just announced additional US tour dates in support of his album, WARM, released this past November via dBpm Records. His WARM Tour plays the Cincinnati Music Hall Ballroom on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 7:30 PM. The show is part of Cincinnati Arts Association’s 2018-19 Presenting Season.

Crossroads Church’s AWAITED at the Aronoff Center

CAA_Awaited promo

Crossroads Church’s 2019 Production of AWAITED

December 20-23, 2019
Aronoff Center – Procter & Gamble Hall

Pre-sale tickets available online only
Mon., Dec. 17 at 10:00 AM – Fri., Dec. 28, 2018

CINCINNATI, OH – Crossroads Church’s popular Christmas show, AWAITED, will premiere at the Aronoff Center for the Arts’ Procter & Gamble Hall from December 20-23, 2019 (see full schedule below). We are thrilled to bring AWAITED next December to this prestigious theater in downtown Cincinnati.

Pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase online only from Monday, December 17 at 10:00 AM through Friday, December 28, 2018 at www.CincinnatiArts.org.  Ticket prices are $100,  $85, $65, $45, $25.  Tickets for children 10 years old or younger are $25 for any seat location.  Additional service fees may apply. Ticket prices subject to change.

When Crossroads’ Senior Pastor Brian Tome came to Cincinnati more than twenty years ago, he took his family to see A Christmas Carol and reflected on how much the people of Cincinnati love traditions, especially around the holidays. Brian and Crossroads had a vision to create a Cincinnati Christmas institution that told the Christmas story from a spiritual perspective. And not just for Crossroads, but for all of Cincinnati. No one could predict that AWAITED would grow to fulfill that vision.

Now Cincinnati’s largest Christmas show, AWAITED has become a beloved holiday tradition. In 2017, 120,000 people experienced AWAITED at Crossroads, and the show has touched the lives of more than a half-million people during its eleven-year run. A generation of children have been raised with Awaited as a part of their Christmas holiday.

This family-friendly theatre experience is a creative retelling of the classic Christmas story told through an immersive, live, large-scale production. Using video projection mapping, dance, and live music, AWAITED connects its audience to the wonder and nostalgia of Christmas. Original arrangements of traditional Christmas songs bring new life to familiar and beloved holiday music. AWAITED’s art direction combines both ancient and modern cultural expressions of Christmas to create moments of childlike delight in a recognizable, yet unexpected, world all its own.

The story of Christmas is a universal one. Crossroads is honored to continue to bring hope to our city at Christmas through AWAITED’s story.

About Crossroads
We started this church for our friends who didn’t like church. People who wanted church to be relevant to their day-to-day lives. A place you could find hope, find biblical truth and be yourself. A place that wasn’t stagnant, but fought for justice and built into communities with sweat equity and love. Apparently, a lot of people wanted the same thing, and Crossroads grew from backyard meetings to tens of thousands of people with one mission—to get to know Jesus and follow him in radically changing the city and the world. Crossroads began in a rented middle school in Hyde Park in 1996 and now has 13 locations across Ohio and Kentucky and 35,000 attendees.
