Eddie was born in Columbus, OH on December 21, 1928.

Eddie attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH (class of 1947) and Princeton
University, where he was graduated in 1951 with a B.A. in chemistry.

Returning to Cincinnati, he worked for Emory Industries before becoming president of Cincinnati Gold and Silver Refining Company.

Active in local theater in the Greater Cincinnati area, Eddie directed, performed and worked
behind the scenes with many companies, including Cincinnati Music Theater, Mariemont Players,
Deerpark Players, Edgecliff Theater, the Showboat Majestic, and Beechmont Players. He was
instrumental in the creation of the Anderson Center Theater in 2009, for which he was awarded Citizen
of the Year by the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce.

It is with heavy hearts Beechmont Players announces the passing of dear friend and Lifetime Member, Ed Spencer. Known as “Fast Eddie” to his friends. Ed graced Beechmont Players and the rest of the theater community with wit, charm, and endless dirty jokes as he directed and performed on many local stages.

Often, Ed was the first person to show up at load in and strike, and usually was the oldest in the crew by quite a few years. His energy and love of community theater was boundless. Ed was honored to win the Art Rouse Award, Mario Pittoco Award and countless Orchids for his work over 50+ years.

We offer our condolences to his wife and producer Millie, his daughters and son. Information on arrangements will be passed on as soon as received. Meantime, hoist a cheap beer and tell a bad joke in Ed’s honor.

THE ODD COUPLE, FEMALE VERSION Runs Feb. 4-12

BPI_logoTHE ODD COUPLE, FEMALE VERSION
Beechmont Players, Inc.
Feb. 4-12
[Anderson Center]

Directed by Arlene Balczo
Produced by Cathy Roesener

Cast: Jennifer Keith as Olive, Laurie Brinkman as Florence, Dee Anne Bryll as Mickey, Maggie Ingram as Sylvia, Debbi Berlon as Renee, Becca Weismann as Vera, Forrest Fairley as Manolo & Bob White as Jesus

Neil Simon’s revision of his hugely successful play, The Odd Couple, sees the lead characters transformed into Olive Madison and Florence Unger. Olive and their group of girlfriends are enjoying their weekly Trivial Pursuit night in Olive’s messy and ill-equipped apartment. As the game continues, Florence arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband. Fearful that the neurotic Florence might attempt suicide, Olive invites her to move in as her roommate. However, Olive and Florence have VERY different personalities. Where Olive is messy, untidy, and unconcerned about the state of her apartment, Florence is obsessively clean, tidy, and obsessed with hygiene. Olive’s easy-going outlook on life soon clashes with Florence’s highly-strung neurotic tendencies, testing their friendship to the limit. When Olive organizes a double-date with the Costazuela brothers, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.

1/5/21 – Productions are subject to Ohio Laws and restrictions regarding gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
