Playhouse Musical Improv Classes

Whether you are polishing your performance skills or exploring something new, you will have a great time in a fun, fast-paced, and encouraging environment. Matthew Loren Cohen was hired in 2009 by Chicago’s famed Second City to music direct a revue aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Gem. Since that time, he has worked steadily for the Second City, including music directing and writing music for Second City revues at such regional theaters as Arizona Theatre Company, Baltimore’s Centerstage, Actors Theatre of Louisville and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Free Acting Workshops

The following Cincinnati 2012 SUMMER ATTAIN ACTING WORKSHOP SERIES was made available through an anonymous student donation. Each workshop will only accept eight participants. Workshops with four or less participants will be canceled one week prior to the event. Participants will be notified by email of any cancellation. All participants must register. To register, send your name, contact number and the date of the workshop you will be attending from the list below to ATTAINWorkshop@aol.com or call 513.254.3344.

The anonymous student donation covers travel cost only for the acting coach. Donations will be gratefully accepted but are not required. Location of all workshops will be at 800 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 on the third floor. This workshop is not intended for young children.

PIP Offers Improv Workshops with Second City Cast

Playhouse in the Park is offering improvisation workshops with the cast of SECOND CITY DOES CINCINNATI 2: MORE PRIDE, LESS PORK.

This spring and summer, cast members of Second City will be offering improvisation workshops for interested actors of all levels, from novices to experienced improvisers. Whether you are polishing your performance skills or exploring something new, you will have a great time, in a fun, fast-paced, and encouraging environment.

CCM Prep Offers Summer Camp for Adults

Ever wondered why kids were the only one who get to go to camp?? We have the answer!

Camp dates are July 9 – 13, 2012, 10-3 p.m.; final performance at conclusion of week. Located at Sycamore Senior Center, 4455 Carver Woods Drive.

Let our talented faculty tap into your theatre skills and bring out that performer waiting inside! This week long program limited to adults over 40 will help you develop your abilities in such areas of acting, musical theatre, and improvisation.

The camp will be held at the beautiful, air conditioned and spacious Sycamore Senior Center, located in Blue Ash. Accessible and plenty of free parking available. If you are planning to come from out of town, there are several affordable hotels in the area. Contact us for more information.

At the conclusion of the week, there will be a special performance for family and friends. What a great way to spend a week in Cincinnati!

GCTTG Offering Costume and Lighting Workshops

The Greater Cincinnati Technical Theatre Guild will be offering two technical workshops on Saturday, April 28.

Introduction to Costuming Workshop lead by Karen Wiebe is designed for people who would like to know the basics of costume design and get an idea of how they can help in the theatre. Topics include costuming from different perspectives, how to reach a happy medium with set and lighting designers, historically accurate costumes on a tight budget and more. This workshop will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Introduction to Lighting Workshop lead by Roberto Henriquez will introduce the beginner to the principles and equipment used to light theatrical performances. Topics will include basic lighting and electrical principles, lighting fixtures, dimming and control, safety and more. This workshop will be 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Both workshops are free and open to the public.
