Sketch Comedy Writing Workshop on Jan. 25

TCO_logoFor the past 2 years, The Company (thecompanypresents.com) has been writing and performing all-new, all-original sketch comedy around Cincinnati. And for 2016, they are looking for YOU.

The Company will be holding it’s first Intro and Writing meeting of 2016 on Monday, January 25th, from 7:30-9:30 at HD Beans in Silverton (6721 Montgomery Rd). We’ll be meeting in the back room, and we’ll be running over the expectations of the process, the schedule, introducing everyone, and reading some sketches!

ANYONE who is interested is welcome, and NO previous experience is required. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please email Colin Cronin at colin@thecompanypresents.com.

Upcoming Classes Offered By Cincinnati Shakespeare Company

This is an acting class for 6th-9th grade students who are interested in furthering their acting skills and understanding of Shakespeare. The emphasis of the program will be on learning basic acting skills, working together as an ensemble, and speaking Shakespeare’s text. Workshops on movement, voice, text analysis, character development, and Shakespearean performance will take place throughout the program. By working together through theatre games and scene work, actors in the program will experience the excitement of the artistic process.
This program is audition only for NEW members.
Instructor: Maggie Lou Rader
Cost $295/semester. Students are encouraged but not required to participate in both semesters. Make a payment online here.

Audition Techniques and Coaching for Adults- Spring 2016

Students will learn audition prep, cold reading, and resume constructing techniques in addition to having three audition pieces, of the student’s choosing, worked, coached, and ready to go into any audition room. This course is for adults only. All skill levels welcome!

Shakespeare Acting for Adults- As Your Like It Intensive- Spring 2016

Students will rigorously study, discuss, and examine Shakespeare’s play, As You Like It culminating in group performance during the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s PROJECT38 festival of projects this April. Students have the opportunity to work with members of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Resident Company. This course is for adults only. This class will move rather quickly so some work in Shakespeare is recommended, but not required.

Improv for Adults- Spring 2016

This class will be an introduction to improv and build on the fundamentals of the craft. Students will be introduced to the concepts of yes, and…, instant character generating, hyper listening, and scene building. No previous acting experience, or the notion of being funny, is required. The only thing required is a willingness to take a risk, accept failure, and have an absolute blast while doing it. Let’s play. This course is for adults only. All skill levels welcome!

FYI, everyone: Miranda McGee‘s workshop is being rescheduled to this January due to scheduling conflicts. Know will be posting the new dates ASAP.

Resident artist and professional actor Miranda McGee teaches a five week acting course, using cutting edge scripts from the Know’s vault of new works!

Along with ensemble work and exploration of various techniques, students participate in scene study, culminating in an informal final performance!

Physical Theatre Workshop with Erin Carr

PHYSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP: ALL AGES & EXPERIENCE LEVELS!

Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to further your own acting education and movement skills!

Erin Carr, Local Actor/Teaching Artist & NYU-Alum, has recently returned from studying international physical theatre in Italy and is offering this ONE TIME ONLY workshop based on the techniques she studied while there.

Techniques include: Contact Improvisation, Jerzy Grotowski & Meyerhold’s Biomechanics. She is also offering an introduction workshop to Viewpoints & physical theatre to provide the vocabulary needed for main workshop.

Both Workshops will take place Weds, Sept. 23rd at Cincinnati Actor’s Studio & Academy’s space (rm. 282B) located in Essex Studios: 2511 Essex Pl, Cincinnati, OH 45206.

  • Introduction Workshop ($5) will be from 6-7PM
  • Main Workshop ($15) will be from 7:15-9:15PM

An Evening with #GoodPeople: A Playwriting Workshop September 23rd

GPTC_logoGoodPeople Theatre Co. is proud to announce that for the first time as a company, it will be a hosting AN EVENING WITH #GoodPeople: A PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP.

SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2015 from 7pm-9pm

Location: Roh’s Street Café (Upstairs Meeting Room), 245 W. McMillan St., Cincinnati, OH 45219

Attending the workshop is completely FREE (we will be accepting donations – all which will solely go to the company). Whether you are a playwright, an actor, a stage manager, a human being, ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.

If you are a playwright, please bring a couple of copies of your pieces so that they may be read aloud by other actors (a good five to 10 minutes of your piece is perfectly fine) – and then we can discuss what we have heard.

The workshop will be led by Artistic Director/Founder of #GoodPeople Theatre Co. Mollie Jeanette Amburgey.
